Just wanted to say how much fun I had at our first ever agility event. It was at a local show and I was expecting "proper" jumps, but we had to negotiate a load of straw bales!!!

The person who set it up was very clever, because they had made a normal jump, a tyre which rested on built up bales, a "tunnel", an "up and over" with carpet on top, a different "tunnel", cones for weaving poles and a table for the pause box thingy.

We could have as many goes as we liked for 50p each!!!

Anyway throughout the day, Banya and i had 3 goes, once she bogged off towards the river to say hallo to some people eating their lunch, and once she raced off as Des was coming back - begn a BSD she does like to keep us all together LOL ;)

The 3rd go she was very sweet but i was slow.

Then Des had a go. Blimey!!! He raced round like a madman, Banya loved it,but missed out a cone and decided not to lie down on the wobbly pause box, but they were the second fastest time :) :) :) I was so proud of them both :)

It was so entertaining, as kids were actually doing the jumps thenselves wiht their dogs, and sone adults too, it got quite hilarious at one point as a grown man went through a tunnel and was nearluy stuck.

It was'nt nearlu so bad as i thought, gives dog and handler a chance to get used to such occasoins without it being a big deal if it all goes pear shaped, and most of all was just great fun!

So do have a go, if there is a Fun Agility near you, you will enjou it much more than you think :)

We said you'd enjoy it !!! You lucky thing..our agility is finished for 3 weeks as our trainiers are in the UK competing...so I bought my bamboo canes, got some wood for some jumps & weave poles, a friend of mine has a tunnel and we think we can get a tyre...we are going training on the beach saturday morning...saves us missing out....I can't wait for my first go...

Hi Lindsay...I live in Jersey, and live in a village called "Gorey Village" (very touristy), and it is packed down here at the moment..they had the Gorey Fete on last night, down at the pier, and it was a nightmare to get back to my house...plus was just about to go to bed and they started letting off the fireworks at 10.45pm...I was not amused !! That scared India half to death, and spent the next hour shaking and not moving from my bed...poor might...Starr stood at the window barking at them !!

Bloomin' fireworks!!! Is'nt it bad that they have them in the flippin' summer!!! :(

Banya is thank god fine with them, touch wood, because her breeder used a firework CD from the Blue Cross behaviourist when she was a tiny puppy, and last year she even wee'd in the garden with all the fireworks around us!

i have had dogs very scared from them though ,so I am not being at all smug, and do sympathise.

Give Starr and India a pat from me :)

Thanks Lindsay..both Starr & India recoverd from the firework display !!

Went to do our "agility" on the beach today....never again....

Starr either didn't see the bamboo sticks or was just being bl**dy naughty !! She wouldn't go over the jumps, although she did the weave poles and the tunnel...then her and her cocker pal "Tinsel" decided they were going off to chase the seagulls...we blot on the landscape had nothing on us, as that was all they were... after 15 minutes of completely ignoring us they came back...she was a darling ...for the next 10 minutes...didn't leave my side...India was happily swimming in the sea at this time...then all of a sudden..off she went again...only this time on her own..away she went...and went...and went...and went...until I could just about make her out...little bag...my sister went running after her...she was getting closer to the slipway...in the end (after 20 minutes) she stopped and waited for my sister to pick her up....could have strangled the little bag...so my sister put her on the floor, about 10 yards away from me and I called to me...she of course came straight away..as if noting had happed...and I had to be all cherry and say "good girl well done " when all I wanted to do was to give her a blooming smack !!!My heart was going 10 to the dozen !!! Needless to say they were covered thick in sand from head to toe, (I can hear all the show people cringing now !!!:D) and had a bath as soon as we got back...they are still sleeping now !!! LITTLE ANGELS

Never again .....:D
