While I wait for call from vet I thought i`d tell you her story. She is a pup from my own bitch who struggled after been born by c- section vet didn`t think she`d survive I refused to give up on her she had to be weened 2 weeks after rest of litter, after this she didn`t look back .My son wanted her but I couldn`t as I had bonded with her. Up until last friday she thrived and was a big healthy lab.She started being sick ,white froth with blood spots.Took her to vets who felt obtruction in tummy so kept her in on drip .Late that night she was sick again and they saw tablets in it .I knew she didn`t get them at home so my son went into woods where we had walked her and her found paracetamol disgarded inside treeline where she had went,we don`t know how many she had taken. She came home on monday and seemed fine ,obstuction cleared .it was bit of rope toy.She was sick over night ,no blood, she was ok all day Tuesday, woke up this morning with her being sick, blood in froth again.I tryed to keep calm and offered her food just to see her responce she refused .My baby is now in vets on drip again if xray is clear she will be going to the vet school for scope. She is a happy lab who wags her tail all the time and she was crying this morning .I hope she`s going to be alright I am worried.I will hopefully have a good end result.

Hi Morag,

everything crossed for you here - I'm so sorry you're feeling so low and can completely understand.  They're all special but those we have bred ourselves or gone through traumas with have a special niche in our hearts.

Please God the prognosis is good, you're both in my prayers.

Yes she is extra special I have been softer on her and she is different from my other girls .I was intending to breed my 2 yr old this year ,don`t think I could face it the way I feel at the moment .

Thanks Morag

Hope everything goes weel for her. With luck it will just be some more rope.

My present oldie was born first and was only half the size of her big, even siblings. She never did completely catch up in size so I kept her "in case there was something wrong with her" but in truth I was far too bonded with her to let her go and she is still a bit special.

Sorry to hear that you've been having such an awful time with your poor girl.

Yes, everything crossed for you here too.

Best wishes.

It's horrible when there so ill they aren't themselves isn't it. My dog got an ulcer recently; didn't know what it was at the time. He was just vomiting blood and crying. He felt so bad it frightened him. I hope your baby is alright and is feeling better soon. Our thoughts are with you both.

Wishing Luda well. How irresponsible of someone to dump Paracetemol tablets!!!   Hope she improves quickly.

Sounds very promising Morag - even if recovery is protracted the main thing is she will be on the mend :)
Sending positive healing thoughts your way and a gentle hug for Luda!

best wishes, Teri x

After the vet found the tablets did they do a stomach wash out, I don't know whether they use charcoal in dogs to stop absorbsion of any missed tablets ? Once you knew it was paracetamol they should have been treating her to counteract the effects.

I hope she is better soon.

Hi all ,I now have my Luda home with loads of meds + hills food ,vet says she will most likely always have a sensitive stomach because of the tablets .Once she is off hills I will have to find another food for her ,any suggestions would be great.I am also thinking about putting a muzzle on her for walking off lead .She really is ment to be here with me and I don`t want anything happening to her again.Thank goodness I had her insured as this was so unexpected.
