I find this very curious....

One of my pups arrived from the breeders eating Pedigree, several years ago.

A few months back we looked after a foster puppy, which also arrived eating Pedigree.

Opening the pack of Pedigree, which I continued to feed for a few days until the pup settled in, I was hit by the "Pedigree smell".

Has anyone else noticed this?

And then, yesterday in a test, one of mine won a bag of Pedigree as a prize.  I hate wasting things so thought a few meals of Pedigree Bum won't hurt her (she has a good digestion and can eat most things!) - opened the bag, and there again, in the Adult version, was that same distinctive smell.  It's not a bad smell, it's kind of sweet, and well, I can't describe it.  Does anyone know what I'm talking about?  What can it be??

My puppy came from the breeder eating Pedigree tinned puppy and mixer, and he had bad doggy BO. It was more like smelly, oily dog but very strong. Nothing sweet about it! I di d think, Oh good, he's going to be one of those smelly GR's. I kept him on the Pedigree until he had a chance to settle then switched to something else for quality reasons. Low and behold, no more doggy odor.

When I used to occasionally groom peoples dogs I always was right when I asked if they fed their dogs pedigree.  They used to ask me why and I'd say that Pedigree dogs have a smell that's quite unique, disgusting actually:rolleyes:

My second dog came to me fed on Pedigree.  He smelled like a dog kennel and had his one and only bath after I simply could not stand it anymore.  His poo was the worst-smelling stuff I had ever encountered.  After he was settled I switched foods and within a few days I no longer had to pick up his poo whilst holding my nostrils closed!
