Topic Dog Boards / Health / Scabby nose!!

Hi Guys,
Dylan raided the bucket last Monday (what a mess everywhere  ) and scraped the top of his nose on a cat food tin!  It keeps healing up, but he keeps knocking the scab off it and making it bleed.  Has anone any ideas for something I can put on it to speed up the healing and stop it itching?

Thanks,
Sarah.

I would say best just too leave it too heal  naturally. Does he keep scratching it? If so I would suggest a buster collar for when you can't watch him. But only if you think it warrents it.

aloe vera works wonders on humans but not sure about dogs.

Aloe vera works for dogs too :)

Yep aloa works great for dogs too :)

You can buy the plant & keep it on a warm window sill then just brake a piece off when needed & use it straight from the leaf :)

OR...you could use good old fashioned Vaseline!! Petroleum Jelly does not allow bacteria to grow so is ideal to put on a nose! AND IT'S CHEAP AS CHIPS!!! I also had some Moors Gold Cream that I used on a scar Storm had on her snout from a little set to with Cassies caused!! All the best, Dawn X

Thanks for your help guys.  I'll give the vaseline a try, but can't see it working before the weekend.   He's got a show on Saturday, so he'll just have to go as is!

Hi Sarah...You'd be amazed at how fast young dogs(same applies to kids!) heal!!! 5 days is a long time...so good luck, hope you have a result, love Dawn X:cool:

Cheers Dawn.
It does seem to be healing up fine now, though is still pink!

I use tea tree cream for things like this, it works a treat for mine. you can get the doggy pots from most pet shops. :)
