A hypothetical question for people who have more than one dog..........

If a law was brought in which stated you could only have one dog - like China's one child policy for population control - which of your dogs would you choose to keep?

Do you have a secret "favourite" amongst your dogs or do you love them all to the same degree?
- By Carla Date 20.06.06 11:45 UTC
Willis. No-one else would cope with him :D

Edit: Phoebe. I'd give Willis to Isabel :D
- By Isabel Date 20.06.06 11:49 UTC
I was just about to say I would hide my spare ones under the bed!

Which is what the Chinese do, sort of.  The peasants in the countryside have large families as I understand it.

I only have one so not a problem for me, however all those offers of "we'll look after your dog when you go on holiday" never materialised once we got our potty pooch.  Hmmm, wonder why  :D

I can assure you there are no children, or peasants under my bed

That'll be some bed if you're hiding Willis under it, Isabel!!

Searching ebay for a bed ladder.
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 20.06.06 12:43 UTC
I'd recommend the top bunk ...
- By Carla Date 20.06.06 16:14 UTC
But how would he get in with her at night?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 20.06.06 16:16 UTC
You mean he can't climb ladders? You're slacking in his training. ;)
- By Carla Date 20.06.06 16:18 UTC
Hmm, if she took some tripe to bed with her I'm sure he'd figure it out.

Thats that sorted then. When are you picking him up Isabel? :D
- By Isabel Date 20.06.06 16:18 UTC
Change the quiz and I will give him a leg up and come and nurse the twins for the first 18 months :)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 20.06.06 11:49 UTC
:( Are you asking which ones I'd have destroyed? I couldn't choose - they'd all have to go or I couldn't live with the guilt. :(
- By Harley Date 20.06.06 11:53 UTC Edited 20.06.06 11:58 UTC
No not saying they would be destroyed just a hypothetical Sophie's Choice question. Just pretend you only ever had one dog at a time and choose which one that would have been and why :)
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 20.06.06 11:56 UTC
I guess I'd have to keep the one that other people are least likely to look after properly - not necessarily the one I'd prefer to keep out of choice.
- By JaneG [gb] Date 20.06.06 17:46 UTC
I'd do the same as JG, I'd have to give away my easy to live with fun collies and my gorgeous soppy borzoi and keep devil dog coz I couldn't trust him to anyone else...thank god it'll never come to that.
- By Moonmaiden Date 20.06.06 14:36 UTC
I would leave the country & all of my dogs are precious to me I could not make that decision
- By ChinaBlue [gb] Date 20.06.06 17:41 UTC
Agree with MM - just couldn't do it. If necessary I'd go on the run with them

I only have one dog so i couldn't say, but i think in if i ever got another one Tyler would always be my favourite, but then again how can i know that?
- By Brainless [gb] Date 20.06.06 21:10 UTC
No way would I give any of them up.  If such a a rule ever came into being it would basically be the end of dogs.
- By perrodeagua [gb] Date 20.06.06 21:21 UTC
I would do the same as MM and leave the country, there's absolutely no doubt in my mind about that!
- By Dill [gb] Date 20.06.06 22:50 UTC
As my dogs are roughly the same colour and are both bitches I'd walk them separately and only ever own up to having one :D :D  after all, it's hard to count them when they keep moving :D :D :D
- By calmstorm Date 21.06.06 10:19 UTC
They would have to find me and them first...........;)
- By Spender Date 21.06.06 10:46 UTC
I agree with MM too. I could not do it, no way!   I'd run too.............
- By ice_queen Date 21.06.06 10:40 UTC
I couldn't choose a fave.  I have however thought if anything was to happen to my family and I couldn't cope with 5 dogs then the one I would keep would be the one we bred.  one for that reason and two because he wouldn't settle anywhere else.  The others would go back to their breeders.  However in this hypothetical question that would not be a possibility! :D

If it really was the case I would go on the run with all the dogs...Maybe I should get each of them a passport just in case! :D
- By Dill [gb] Date 21.06.06 13:20 UTC
Did think about going 'on the run' but it's going to awfully crowded out there ;) :D :D

The wilds will be full of people and dogs trying to avoid the authorities :D :D  Kind of a 'Brave New World' :D :D :D
- By spellmaker [gb] Date 21.06.06 14:29 UTC
I know which one I,d have to keep cos she,s so norty and I also know which one is my favourite but I daren,t say in case the other ones listening:eek:
Thank god its only hypothetical thats all I can say.
- By Muttsinbrum [gb] Date 21.06.06 15:28 UTC
I'm with the rest; if forced at gunpoint it would be Zak the Special Needs (the-lights-are-on-but-nobody's-home) triple-rehomed GSD who would need me most.  Miss Thing could probably manage on her own...
- By roz [gb] Date 21.06.06 16:39 UTC
phew! wotta hypothetical relief that i've only got one dog because i've just come out of hospital after an unexpected admission for 6 days (bad arm went pussy) and i'm sorry to say that the first question i asked the OH every time he visited me was "how's my dog"!! by the time they let me out last night i'd got a terrible case of separation anxiety and i can't begin to imagine how i'd decide to give away any dog of mine!
