Hi All
I have just ordered some shampoo and conditioner from HUB and I got to wondering what other people use and swear by. I would be very interested to know :D

Hi Carol, it's Dot. At Scottish Kennel Club show at Edinburgh in May a TT exhibitor told me she uses Asda's own brand Coconut shampoo and also their Coconut conditioner. She was showing a black TT and it had a lovely shiny coat. The breeder I got my TT (Toby) from told me she's used it too and found it good. She says she has also used Asda's own brand Tea tree shampoo and Tea tree conditioner for a change.
I've used the Coconut one on Toby now and I think it's good. Toby's black but is going silvery/grey from the back forwards and he has a little white flash on his chest. What colours are your TT's? How long have you had them? I'd love another but an older pup, preferably another rescue. I'm a sucker for a sob story!! and I've found it very rewarding to see Toby recover from his past.

As a groomer i use show pride from Simpsons they do all sorts from wire hair to blue white etc , and i swear by them, i use these for my newfs and they always come up gleaming without stripping the coat of the oils.
My friend uses them on her Paps and they are always whiter than white.Another friend uses them on her border terriers and swears by them.
But is is a case of trial and error.

Hiya Dot
George is 10 and is black with a white chest, Molly is 71/2 and is blond, white and sable and the 'pups' Alice and Amy are now silver and white and are 3. Yes I do show. Alice is my success story. Amy I show at open shows because you never know how she is going to act and Molly has now retired. TT's rule.
Well done Dot for loving Toby I hope his past wasn't too traumatic. TTs have a tremendous sense of fun don't you agree, but can also be hard work but when they look at me I melt :D

Hi Carol, We use a whole range of different ones, and usually use something different for between show preparation to actual show day shampoo. On the parti Americans we have had alot of success with the Wahl 'All out Purple" - which for some strange reason if called "Plum White" when you buy it by the gallon. It lathers well, rinses out easily and is great for getting rid of stains on the white bits. My partner has a TT (Pingu) and uses the Dezynadog Super condition on him, the sort that dilutes 10 to 1. For show days we tend to use Revlons Flex on both the TT and Americans, although have had some success with Pantene as well. We tend to experiment with each dog, as the coats have very individual requirements. Aveda do a fabulous range, and will make them up individually to your requirments, where you get to chooses the perfume added (or not if you prefer). Just make sure you dont get any of the colourings added if it is for a show dog - the off the shelf ones for black and red hair have herbal 'colourants' in them!

Hi Carol,
Know what you mean. It's just as well Toby's good because I can't give him a row when I look at him. He's 3 and I got him through TT Association rescue 15 months ago. He just needed someone to love him. Unfortunately he had been maltreated and was in such a state when the breeders got him back they couldn't go near him for a couple of days and he was very thin. It's really amazing how there's no sign of it now. I'm hoping to see the breeders at SKC in a couple of weeks and I think they'll be pleased. I was at SKC in May and it's the first time I've seen a lot of TT's. I wanted to take them all home! I don't show Toby but enter him as NFC so I can take him into the show. Are you going to SKC or is it too far for you?

Hiya Dot
SKC is just a bit to far as we live in East Sussex. If ever your down my way would be great to see Toby. The furthest we travel to a dog show is Birmingham. Maybe see you at Crufts next year

When you go to Birmingham Toby's breeders will probably be there. He's from the Verony's kennels (Tony & Veronica Green). I've kept in touch with them and they should be coming up for SKC so hope to see them then.
I used to show the Goldens and before that our Pyrenean Mountain dog but I hadn't been to shows for years. I'd forgotten how much fun they are so although I'm not showing Toby we go camping so maybe I'll travel further afield and combine both hobbies!

I use a shampoo called Crisp Coat on my oldest Chow.It by 1 All Systems. On my pup Ive been using Neem Oil.
I found both these shampoos very good.
Years ago my friend owned a grooming place. She always used Lux soap flakes.

hi carol
I have spent pounds buying different shampoos in the past but now I also use coconut shampoo but not conditioner as it is heavy and makes the coat flat, I show a golden retriever and the coat looks great.
