Topic Dog Boards / General / Fur in Cyprus
- By danny [gb] Date 16.06.06 20:52 UTC
Came back from Cyprus on Wednesday. While there saw an astonishing amount of fur on waistcoats, shawls, scarfs and on cat replica ornaments. Having felt the fur have to say it was either cat or dog!!  My stomach churned, particularly having seen the programme on T.V. No sellers in the shops knew what type the fur was and one person told me to leave the shop, don't ask me why!! I only asked what fur it was.     The fur on the cat ornaments was clearly tabby in colour and was a natural colour , not dyed.

One waistcoat had fur on it that felt like that of a dog, it was too course for rabbit or cat.  It has really hit me hard and I have come home with a heavy heart. This slaughter really is going on.

Hopefully people wont buy these things, its sickening!!   DONT BUY IT, EVEN IF THEY SAY ITS FAKE, ITS REAL!!

ALL THE BEST, XX

Just don't buy fur full stop ! - that way you'll KNOW that some poor dog/cat ( or indeed any other animal) has not died to provide you with a fur trimming etc -

I have no problem with sheepskin, leather or Rabbit fur, any animal that has already been slaughtered for food, would seem a waste not to use all of the animal.

Same here brainless, totally agree. What gets me is this awful trade in fur where animals are skinned alive because the fur is better....I think fur looks best on the animal it comes from, not a coat or anything else for that matter. The mere thought of killing some proud wild animal just for its fur makes me sick.

i agree Brainless, fur as a by product is fine, afterall the back end of a bullock looks great walking around the field but equally great on my plate:cool: so why shouldnt a rabbit skin (i have several rabbit skin hats) or anyother part of an animal that is being eaten.

I personally would never buy fur - then I can be sure I never support this appalling trade in cats and dogs...

You've hit the nail on the head Lindsay - the fact is that dog/cat fur is frequently disguised as rabbit etc so you may well unwittingly be suporting this vile trade by buying ANY fur products  and after all  who really needs to wear real animal fur these days ? Dog fur is sold in THIS country under the name of Chinese Coney ( rabbit) and other 'acceptable' names - just don't wear real fur and you'll be certain of not  providing a reason for this kind of cruelty to continue.
