Ive been here over 3 years now (eek where did the time go)
Just wondering if others feel they have learned anything from the board ?

Not learned much i go to the breed forums for that but gained tons of friends thru here :D

Yuppers learned a handful especially when I first came here, I think 4 years ago... Seen alot of people come and go miss a few cause they are no longer on here :( Also met alot more :) These forums end up being alot more then just a dogforum :)

I have learnt lots with Dicksy being my first puppy (cocker who is now 3 in September!), had a rescue lhasa before him who has now sadly passed on.  The support I've had from people I will never forget in respect of my personal life.  Some lovely people on here x

I agree, some fab peeps on here! The girls that are always about to give advice/help to those in need, well, you cant put a price on that can you?! :D

Have met some great girls and feel that if ive got any questions or worries, ive always got somewhere to come for answers/help/advice :)

I love CDs for its brilliant "SEARCH" facility....finding information from people who have EXPERIENCED the issues I want to know about and knowing that, most of the time, I'll get FACTS as opposed to someone trying to sell me something! :-D

Yes debs, experience is great, talking to people who have been where you are for a problem, all the different ways of dealing with it. And not being sold anything....to true :D

I have learned loads and loads and loads ....I've read books that I wouldn't otherwise have read, visited websites that I would never have known about, read (and digested, I hope) many words of wisdom about things of which I had no knowledge before, received congratulations, condolences and reassurance when I've posted - and, I hope, I've made many web-friends, all of whom I'd like to meet some day :D

This is one place where the thing that keeps us all tied together is our love of dogs - so we talk to such a diversity of people, we will never know just how diverse!

Is it any wonder that Champdogs is at the top of my list of favourites?? :D :D

Totally agree - it really is fantastic - and I have learnt plenty!

There are some truly lovely people who do their best to help anyone and who are friendly, you can share your success and failures and still receive encouragement.

In my nearly 5 years on here I have learnt a lot about dogs and people , gained some very good friends (hopefully not too many enemies :D ) and have spent far too many hours of my life on here :p :p

Yes, learned loads :)  I will always regard it as a really useful resource for anything I need to find out not just doggy either, there are some really knowledgable people here, I expect there is lots more to be learned.

I've not been here long, but I've been getting some great advice and reassurance from loads of people already.  Only had positive experiences so far.....!

I've learnt loads since joining! I was a real novice dog owner but have gained valuable doggy knowledge by reading these boards:)

Learned quite abit but find it great for asking those niggling questions :)  Someone always knows. :)

Learned lots and only wish I had known about the forum when I first got my pup or even before.  I realise now that I should have taken up fieldwork or showing with her.

I have learned loads and like Cheryl, wish I had found it sooner :D

However, it's given me a real interest in getting into showing and I'm hoping to put my name down in the near future for a pup to hopefully get in the ring with :D Yikes! I'm nervous at the thought and it's likely to be a couple of years away yet!! No doubt there'll be lots of questions before my debut so your collective continued patience would be appreciated :D

Big moan about Champdogs is that it's far too addictive, though! :D

Love coming here though, and yes I've learnt loads!

I still miss John now and then too. He was so wise in dog lore.
We didn't always agree but were always able to agree to disagree beautifully, :P he
was a true gent.

I didn't realise just how little I knew about dogs still I found CD Not to mention the help and support so many have others have offered on numerous non dog topics, I'd be lost without it

I have learn't how to clean Stainless Steel, tried out new recipes, taken stains out of things, chat about my favourite TV programs, drool over my favourite TV/Film stars, found out I wasn't the only one who remembered Space Hoppers and Spangles..............and I heard a rumour it was a 'dog' board.

Oodles, and lots more to learn every day - & not just restricted to doggy matters either :)  

I have learnt LOADs on here and even after 4 years still visit virtually everyday.  I love the fact that as well as being able to talk about our lovely furry friends, we can also find out almost anything from this board!  I often say to my friends in the 'normal' world "oh I will ask that on my dog board".  They used to look at me weirdly (well probably still do :) ) but now they know how useful it is.  Hopefully I've made a few friends. I enjoy the fact that we can debate issues and be on opposite sides on some and on the same side on others.

I've learnt a lot about the word 'expert' :D It's best interpretation is when the title is given by many to the few. A title earnt, but never self-nominated :D :D But length of 'study' is not the best gauge of 'expertness'

Gosh, where do I start.... learned lots from Champdogs, picked up some really useful tips and some really useful info.....  Some posts have brought things to my awareness that I wouldn't have thought of otherwise......still learning........ always will be learning..........will never stop learning....... .. Lots of lovely helpful peeps and lots of shared common sense.  :-)

Think the defining moment for me was last christmas when a lady in the States posted an emergency about dog eating Xmas tree lights.... where else would you get such immediate advice when everything is closed down for Xmas (or should I say "the Holidays" ;) )

I'd love to say exactly what Ive learnt but there's truly been soo much, OH keeps complaining our favourites/Bookmarks is full of 'doggy stuff'...He wailed yesterday "why have we got Pyo links here when we've got a dog??" well..Im just getting all my info stashed for our Bitch (In 3 years time granted!!!!)

Can I also add, that if I hadn't found this group I would never have found out about a condition which even my vet had no idea about. Truly, as far as I'm concerned, a life saver :) And another lifesaver was reading about Bloat, if I hadn't have been able to spot the 'symptoms' so quickly, well, doesn't bear thinking about.
The majority of people on here are fantastic, and the information invaluable :)

Only joined a few months ago, but despite having had two dogs before, have found the forum extremely helpful with my new pup. Times have changed since our last dog 15 years ago! Been practising 'clicker' training this morning with my 11 week old TT. Would like to say thank you to all the 'experts' on board.

I've found the combined knowledge on this site totally amazing - and there seems to be no limit to the subjects :D :D

The internet is a far safer place for my computer (and my friend's computers) - because of a dog site !!!   who'd have thunk it?

Alot of the times I come here and read some of the posts and I get a good laugh :) great way to cheer up a sad day. It is alot about the people and how you are treated, this forum is great all the way around... Great advice, great support when needed, its always here no matter what :)

Its nice to have people that share in the same interest that your other friends don't share like dogs lol :D I always get asked why I have so many animals and why not get rid of some, well you can't I love them :) Mind you I did rehome my daughter's rabbit to a farm because she just was not giving her the attention she needed, or the run time, and for a year I was always after her and well it was not fair to the rabbit. Best interest of the animal was to rehome, now my daughter has No more pets in her room..

Love this forum no matter how much you ramble on there is always some on here to lend a ear :)

I,ve learned loads of things from CD when my old girl was poorly back in March the information on here helped me enormously now she,s like a spring chicken again (thanks Gold mail) .
I ,ve made loads of freinds some of you guys just crack me up you know who you are I,ve been shocked saddened confused and so happy for some people and some have just made me roll about laughing ,sometimes I ve got angry and someinmes I,ve cried.
I,ve loved hearing about peoples puppies being born and all the success people have enjoyed in the showring as well .
But most of all I,ve learned to stop sitting in front of the telly every evening eating and so far I,ve lost two stones browsing the boards instead.
But I still can,t figure out how to be in chat the same time as anyone else:rolleyes:
