Hi anyone care to shed some light on this!! my female/bitch bichon frise has taken to humpy my leg/arm when she gets a chance??? No signs of being on heat.

Female and male dogs both 'enjoy' this behaviour, some dogs do it, some never do!

The trick is to deflect if your dog starts to do this, No! Is the obvious word to train your dog for all behaviours including this one, otherwise get your dog to play with one of her toys with you instead to take her mind off this behaviour.

Somebody told me this is a way of trying to be the Alpha Female, so she is challenging your authority. Is she allowed on the furniture or beds?:rolleyes:

Sorry skyblue, but it's got zippo to do with being 'Alpha'. They do it because it's a way of relieving excitement. Just say 'No!' and calmly remove humper from humpee.

Agree with JG, it's nothing to do with alpha or being allowed on beds :)

Hee hee. :) Freya used to do it to her toy when she got over excited ....... seems to have stopped after the spaying though :rolleyes:

LOL Our GSD likes to hump the cavaliers(& they return the favour)Nothing to do with trying to be Alpha as she already rules the dogs with a look ;) & she's been spayed for almost 11 years !

My 11 week old TT humps his duck 'Quackers' & we have to try hard not to laugh as 'Quackers' is as big as him!
