We entered a companion show to give our puppy a bit more ring practice, we also entered our 9yo bitch in the pedigree veteran class, we got 6 out of 6 not a problem until the judge said as I left the ring that my dog was the best and moved like a trooper! She had judged the class on age, if it was a novilty class I would understand but a pedigree class shouldn't that be judged on which one was best?

I also just wish that judges would make their decision and keep their mouths shut! :(
I remember one of ours winning the Veteran bitch class at Crufts with the old lady shinning in the line up and moving like a train. The ticket was given out and we were really pleased and proud with the old lady's performance. But then the judge came over to my daughter handling and said "She's wonderful. By far the best here for quality and movement, but I don't suppose she needs another ticket?"
Yip been there! We had some cracking comments from judges, so far the best one was (as he pulled my dog out of the line up) then looked up the lead and said "oh!..you are not the person I am looking for!" and then asked my hubby to go back into the line up! Just at a recent show my dog came last and the excuse was that she was "mis-behaving" even though she wasn't she was just Bored as he was taking so long to decide. So really what he was saying was as long as your dog stands still like a card board cut out then I will choose it over a dog that conforms in every way to breed standard. Needless to say he won't ever get the chance of getting near my dog again. Feel better now, ahh!

Well listen to this one! ;)
A all-breeds championship show judge said to my friend as she gave her Veteran Dog the CC one year when he was judging "You find your CC winners and then you don't know what to do with the rest". Needless to say, said judge won't be getting another entry from me this year!

We had a judge tell us at a club champ show, if he had been in open he would have had the CC!!!!! (He was in vetern)

Similar thing happened to my mum many years ago at Crufts. She won res.cc (had 2 cc's and 4 res cc's ) but the judge said that she had more time than the bitch cc winner as she was getting on a bit. She never did get that final cc!

That's happened to me the other way round - fairer of course, but a shame for my boy! I heard that the judge did think 'that dog needs a 2nd CC to encourage people to make him up, and the other one is made up already. But that first dog (mine) is just standing there saying 'don't mind either way', and the other one is practically turning somersaults to ask for the CC.' So quite rightly the other dog got it! :-)
