Topic Dog Boards / General / Entry fees for fun dog shows?
- By Star [in] Date 12.06.06 15:09 UTC
What sort of entry fees do people pay at these shows. We are organising one for September.  Have loads of prizes promised, hopefully enough for a prize for each class winner. we also have a special stakes class whcih is being sponsored for 1st to 5th place. Just wondered what the entry fees might be.
Thnx

Yesterday it was £1.00 first entry and then 50 pence any others.  Most charge a bit more than that, but still cheaper than open shows.

£1 per entry is the usual that I have paid if it's a companion show and if it's a non KC fun dog show then 50p per class.

We're doing £1.50 a class at our two shows.  At the first one Prizes for all class winners with something for everyone hopefully as we have very generous dog food sponsor! with the main awards getting somethign aswell.

Round here in the beds/herts area it's £1.50 :)

Hope that helps.

Good luck with your show!

Thanks
I guess thats what we were thinking as we hope to have loads of stuff to give out to all placings.:)

I think it's a resonable price.  £1 is nice however cost's are too be coverd and a profit is to be made for the charity!

Are you able to get things like rosettes sponsored?  We will be having 1-5 but they will be sponsored by our ringcraft club so thats one less cost.  Maybe try a local business?  at one show we were involved in the local Saab dealer sponsored money for what we wanted and many many years ago ABB would give cash to cover costs/use as profit :)

On the Suffolk/Essex border on Saturday I paid £1 per class.  Rosettes to third in each class and a championship with rosette and cup at the end.

(Big up Earl who won the 'Best Shorthair' class and then went on to win the Best In Show :-D  I am a VERY proud Mum!!!

what are fun dog shows like? they sound fun! theyre not like proper dog shows are they? cos my dog is a cross but is still very cute!

Fun dog shows, normally know as companion shows are a very basic level and although most held under KC rules, dogs don't have to be KC reggisterd.

There are pedigree and novelty classes, pedigree classes for pure breed dogs and then novelty is open to all with classes like best cross breed, waggiest tail, appealing eyes and fun classes like that :)

oooh, sounds like fun. There is a fun dogshow at a local park this weekend so i think I may enter my girl despite the fact that she is utterly coatless at the minute  :)

With the classes for pedigree and non-pedigree at a fun dog show what class would you enter a GR who is a rescue and therefore has no papers available but was registered with the KC. The papers were offered to the rescue but they didn't take them.

You enter the pedigree classes.  If it's a pedigree breed it doesn't matter if you do't have papers.  But you can also enter the fun classes.  They are great :d

you can enter him into pedigree classes.  The only details on the entry form is the pet name.  As said the dogs don't have to be KC reg.

There is also normally a rescue class for rescue dogs to enter :)

The ones I've done recently have been £1.50. Some of them have offered discounts for lots of classes which encourages people to enter more classes - I entered 9 yesterday!
