Hi
Has anyone on this list shown a neutered dog? How did you get on? When the judge goes over the dog do you inform him or her that your dog is neutered or just keep stum!
Also can anyone tell me what the Kennel Club Regulation F(B) 3(d) is?
Cheers Nick

I had one of my boys neutered when he became infertile.  I did show him in veteran classes.  I got my vet to write me a note confirming that my boy was entire before he was neutered and put this in a plastic wallet with my "permission to show" letter from the KC (I assume you have informed them).  I also assume you are talking about a male - if a bitch, I don't bother to say anything.

I have a bitch who am showing with some success who has been spayed after a pyometra.  I have informed the KC and have the permission to show paperwork.

I also have a dog who has been castrated.  Like Ridgielover's boy, my boy has his permission to show paperwork, and my vet has also signed a letter to say that before he was castrated he had two normal, fully decended testicles and I ask the steward to bring it to the attention of the judge at the beginning of each class.
He has only been to three open shows since being castrated & he has had a forth, a third and an unplaced (from a class of 15).

It's quite obvious that a dog has no testicles & a judge may just assume that they never had any, especially in the younger classes, which is why I ask the steward to make to judge aware that there is a castrated dog in the class. Some judges don't like neutered dogs being shown, but if they have the revelant paperwork and the vet has said that they were entire & normal before castration, I don't see that it should be a problem. Sometimes it's done for medical reasons.

Oh, just realised I didn't answer the "how did you get on?" bit.  My dog did really well, he was about 7 when I had him done.  He won BOB at the only open show I entered him in breed, he won a best veteran from a variety class and best of all, he won the DCC from veteran at a club show, so a good entry.  However, the judge had already given him a CC as a youngster.  But still, a brave thing to do.  No-one said anything to me, but maybe there were mutterings, I don't know.

Thanks to you all.
Tell the steward he is neutered seems to be the right thing to do. He is still only in junior but had to be castrated for medical reasons. I still want to show him and will get a vets letter.
Thanks for your advice.
Cheers Nick
