my boys have a big plastic shell shaped paddling pool (well two actually - one each  )  they love it, the minute they get back from a walk they jump in too cool off and have a drink and during the day my neighbour watches them splashing about together to cool off

Ive just been in B& Q and you can get a doggy shaped sand pit for £13 :D  Im assuming its probably the same one just you dont get the balls
- By briedog [gb] Date 10.06.06 06:26 UTC
no i had to pay extra for the balls

I bought my 2 a pool last year thought they'd love it, as they love jumping in a pond near us.
No they just use it as a massive drinking bowl :-)  I put toys in it, even myself to coax them in to cool off but they will not go in!!
My theory is the pond makes them dirty, the pool doesn't :D

We bought the doggy paddling pool from B&Q mine think its a dog water bowl too:rolleyes::rolleyes:
When my daughter is in it they HAVE to attempt to drink all the water to save her from drowning

Aww well at least they are trying :-)
Maybe if i filled it with mud as well they'd be in it :D

I jumped on the pool bandwagon and my dog hates it.  the only way I could get her to go in it was by throwing bicuits in it and even then she would only put a couple of paws in.  thing is she climbed in no bother when it was empty but usually loves water.  Looks like paddling pool will go the same way as all of the other fads i've bought into e.g flavoured bubbles. lol

I went one further and bought a cow trough a couple of years ago as my eldest Goldie was obsessed with them and would get in them on our walks. The one in the garden - no interest at all!

Got our boy the shell sand pit and filled both sides with water, he loves it.  He has been laying in it as it is the similar shape to his bed.  It is well worth the £13.99, and you get two.

Just wondering where you buy these shell sand pits i have been looking everywhere for a plastic pool for my boys?
- By Polly [gb] Date 11.06.06 12:26 UTC
Shop around for the shell pools. I discovered that most childrens shops sell them and they can be bought from some larger supermarkets. Mine were £6-00 for two at Tesco in Aylesbury two years ago then after I had bought them (isn't always the case), I saw them on offer in Tesco three weeks later in the reduced to clear section for £3-00 a pair!

Mine have always had a pool available. Before the hard plastic shell ones became available here we used to used large plastic pools but I can't remember where or how we got them, all I know is that we got them from the wool merchants, who sell all manner of agricultural bits. Another one we had for a while but mostly to bathe stinky dogs who had been rolling was a "plasterers bath" shaped and looks like a plastic household bath.

Hi cadbury, I got mine from argos yesterday.
we have had some slight progress with the paddling pool today as she went to retrieve a pigs ear and some chocolate drops I threw in.  it was still only a 2 feet effort but thats better than nothing

Ok i'm feeling cruel and heartless now, what if this was the year they were going to actually have a paddle in a pool :-)
I can't find the old one, so i'm going off to buy one i'm sure they'll appreciate it won't they :D

I got mine the doggy shaped one
Molly empties it faster than I can fill it.
Lock her away, fill the pool, let her out, pool empty
Mind she has fun, gets soaking wet, drags it all over the garden :P and all I have to do is keep out of the way!
