Could somebody pleases advise on which classes to enter a 9 month old puppy in?
We are hoping to go to Bournemouth, but I dont know what all the various classes mean!
This is an on-line entry so have been given various options but there are so many!

Will she be less than or over 9 months on the first day of the show - what classes do you have - Minor Puppy or Puppy only?

What breed is she - sorry if obvious!

He will be 9months and 10 days. And I think the classes are probably in abbreviations.....There are about 10 that they say are suitable but surely thats too many? (Australian Terrier)
Thanks Karen

OK - don't panic and yes you don't want to enter too many !!  Just the one that is right for him - let me have a look and see so wait a min!

Do you have specific breed classes or AVNSC?

I think you want PD = Puppy Dog and poss JD = Junior Dog but not sure how many are in a AVNSC classes?

If you go to highampress.co.uk you can download a full schedule and this also gives the class descriptions for you Karen.

Any probs let me know hon,

Rachel

:-) Thank you so much.
There are classes for the breed, and they have given me a selection, I will get the schedule and take it from there.
Is it a good idea to stick to 2, I got a surprise to see so many listed.

No problem - if I were you definitely no more than 2 and to be honest for a puppy at a champ possibly only 1 class for a puppy - if you enter Junior your pup will be up against other dogs that are up to 18months old!  Once you get the schedule downloaded you will then see what the other classes are where the older dogs will be entered!  So stick to puppy if I were you - however, it does depend on the class sizes really.

All the best,

Great, we did go to the local open show here not very big and not too confusing, this certainly looks really big and exciting.

What happens is it lists all the possible classes, which with a puppy in theory is all the ones for his breed and sex, and also any stakes that apply.

As this is a rare breed or not separately classified and entries in lower classes are likely to be small, if it were me I would put him in Puppy Dog (PD) and Junior dog (JD) and Puppy stakes.

The latter will give him a chance to be in a large class with lots of different dogs in, as the first two are likely to be over with before he knows what is happening :D
