Hi every1 what's your thoughts on showing two breeds of dogs? does anyone here?

I've shown other breeds for friends but have no interest in owning them.  I'd say providing they were in the same group it would be OK, other than that they may be on different days at shows.  The fact you have a working breed you could diversify into pastoral but it would be an expensive trip to shows if you went for example into gundogs  :)

I've shown other breeds for friends either running between rings or doing Champ Shows on 2 different days, but I still have so much to learn about my one breed - 22 years down the line! ;)

Hi,

I have Gordons, English and Irish.  I started showing my gordon then got an English to show as well - sadly we were unable to show Charlie in the end as he is a mono-orchid (sp?) - in hindsight I have no idea how on earth I would have showed both as generally they are in the ring around the same time (different rings of course but classes running at the same time!)

I know people do have different breeds and seem to cope but personally I think it would have been a struggle for us - I have 2 gordon boys that I show now (soon to be 3) and that is just as hard being in a class after the other let alone running up and down to different rings!!

So I guess it depends on what breed you are looking at!

Just my experience of course!

We show two breeds from different groups.  It does mean sometimes being shown on different day and sometimes the open shows we go to seem to have the classes on at the same time.  When that happens we rope a friend in to help - works both ways we help her too.

It's a flaming nightmare:eek:  I have shown two breeds in completely different groups, that are NEVER on the same day at any Champ Shows, this was just time consuming and expensive and sometimes involved overnight stays and then the issues of having dogs outside the show in the car etc... not insurmountable but needing thought etc :-)

Now I have two breeds on the same day and it is sooooo difficult.  No matter what at least 75% of the time they clash.  I find that I am never really settled at a SHow any more and I end up missing half the judging I would like to see in my main breed as i keep an eye on everything

It does of course depend on the breeds involved....what two are you looking at in the working group?

I ahve had many problems in the past, mainly at open shows with classes clashing and unable to take a dog in.

At crufts I was ment to be handling two aussies dogs and a malamute bitch.  Unfortantly I missed the malamute bitches class because I was in with an aussie dog.  Luckily the malamute bitches owner was able and willing to take her bitch in :)  But I though I had planned having dogs in one breed and an older bicth they wouldn't clash when numbers were similar!!!!

I own and show my Chihuahua (have also helped showing Papillons for a friend in the past) and hopefully one day in the near future I'm going to be a happy owner of a Schipperke as well . Since I don't know the first thing about UK shows, I don't really know how it's going to work out (I'm currently showing in continental Europe), but I reckon, I'll manage! ;)
