I picked my new glasses up today after humming and haaing over contact lenses for a while decided they weren't for me.

Instead I've got some new transition V Lenses which means no more swapping my specs for sunglasses in the sun (a real pain).

They're great!!!  Has anyone else got them?  I've spent the whole lunchtime with a friend at my house running into the garden "have they gone dark yet"?  and then running into the house "have they gone light yet"?  and they are brilliant!!!  :D

I'm really chuffed with them - they change really quickly and you don't actually notice the change!!

I've got some really nice new funky frames as well.  My old glasses were frameless ones and I've gone for some rectangular red/black framed ones now which make such a difference after 5 years of frameless!!  :D

 Were they expensive? Like you I get fed up of changing glasses to 'shades' then not being able to read text messages or the paper in the garden  :(  And its not cool to have one pair on your nose and the other pair on top of your head :P :P

Its especially *not cool* when you wander round the house with the specs on your head getting increasingly more annoyed with everyone..demanding "where are my specs!! you mustve have seen them! you must have moved them!!!..I left them right here!!" :D

lol..Im still laughing to myself about you running in and out the house with them H to see if they change !!! :D

They weren't too expensive to be honest.  I got some Ted Baker frames which cost £130 - obviously you could have cheaper ones but I was treating myself!!  The lenses themselves cost £160 and my eye test (did you know that its against the law for them to sell you glasses with an out of date eye test) cost £22.

All in all £312 but after speaking very nicely to the lovely young man serving me I got the eye test and £35 towards the glasses knocked off making it down to £255.  :D

I don't see it as expensive when I think that I will wear these glasses every day of the week for the next 5-6 years as I had done my previous glasses!!  Believe me, I am the type of person who has to justify to myself spending anything but I thought that if I divided the cost by the 5 years then that works out to £50 a year which is well worth it.

I also thought it was good value for money as I won't need to buy sunglasses too so its really 2 for the price of 1 but with the benefit of not having to do the annoying swap over.  :D

they are brilliant too - they turn dark really quickly outside and I'm really chuffed  :D

Thanks calmstorm - I even went as far as breaking it down to £1 a week over 5 years!!!  I'm really glad I got them and I'm enjoying the change!!  :D

Haven't you ever done that Liv? (ran in and out to see if your sunglasses work?) I have
- By Charanda [de] Date 06.06.06 14:09 UTC
But Missie - they aren't just sunglasses - they're glasses that turn into sunglasses in the sun.

Its magic!!  :D  ;-)

Hi charanda, I've got a pair of those as well as my normal glasses but haven't used them for driving yet as I feel the vision isn't as good - I'd rather squint which is contributing to more wrinkles. lol  Have you tried driving in them?
- By Charanda [de] Date 07.06.06 06:54 UTC
I think they're fine to drive in (whizzed everywhere in them yesterday). The perscription lense is exactly the same as my ordinary glasses and so it doesn't affect my vision.  The optician did say that they wouldn't go as dark in the car, despite the sunshine but that was because most windscreens have a filter on them already, which blocks some of the sun.

Infact, at around 4pm when I get home of an evening, the position of the sun usually blinds me when I try to park my car and I've had a few near misses from being totally dazzled by the sunshine.  No such problem yesterday - it made it so much easier!!  :D
