Good Luck to everyone at Southern Counties. For anyone that hasn't seen them. Here's the link to the entries.
Let's hope the conditions are better than Bath eh?

So easy Missie. I'll give you directions beforehand. The main thing is the island right at the end. So easy to miss the slip road then you've had it for a few miles. Many have fallen foul of it.

We'll be there on Pastoral/Working day.
Our second champ show, and hoping to do as well as we did in Bath!  :)

I meant to add, if you have any tips on finding the grounds it would be appreciated as DH does the driving and I have to navigate!  He figures I'm cheaper than SatNav

Saturday for us with an entry of 26 Elhounds making 29 entries, not bad for No CC's, when you consider there were only 23 Exhibits present at SKC reperesentative show, (we no longer have any breeders in Scotland so the entrants will all bar a few be from England or Wales).

It is hard in numeridcally small breeds to encourage interest in a breed with few CC's or champ show classes when they are not in the centre of the country.

Scotland used to be a hotbed of Elkhound exhibitors and breeders, but hwo to encourage new ones with only 3CC shows a year plus their club show,a nd these are April, May, June and October!
- By spanishwaterdog [gb] Date 30.05.06 15:38 UTC
We'll nearly make up the Elkhound amount with our rare breed and we're still on the import register :d :d  Not that I'm going.  Was hoping to watch but unfortunately the other sec. has asked for the day off before me :d
- By Brainless [gb] Date 31.05.06 09:15 UTC
We usually get 40 to 70 with CCs, and 100 plus at our National club champ show, and Crufts will have 75 plus.

Well i'm still kicking myself for missing the entry deadline
Missed Bath as well because we couldn't make our minds up whether to go or not.  JJ would of loved to have rolled round in all that mud
- By paulaj [gb] Date 30.05.06 15:37 UTC
Meant to say as well, Good Luck everyone!!!
- By ClaireyS Date 30.05.06 19:12 UTC
Why didnt I go for a less popular breed - 214 entries  its a local show for me though so at least I get a nice lie in - in fact I doubt I will have to get out of bed until about 8:30
- By hopevalley [gb] Date 30.05.06 19:39 UTC
I'll be there gundog day too.  5 flatcoats to show (and Scout for the day out, Terri, you must come and see him!)

From yours M40. Get off at Junction 9 onto the A34 heading for Newbury. Follow road (most of it dual carriageway, very pleasant) until you get to the M4 roundabout. Come off the A34 onto the M4 roundabout and then you want to do a u turn on the roundabout (not literally) so that your heading north on the A34 again. Once your off the island about 30 yards there is a slip road to the left, bear left up to the T Junction. Left will say Chievely. Turn right here, over the bridge over the A34 and then you'll see the show, on your right hand sign. Follow the cars in to the relevant car park. Hope that helps.
The main thing is getting on that slip road straight after the roundabout. I was down there last month and there is a sign for the showground. I would imagine that they'll put something up for the show because so many have gone past it, back up the A34.
- By Missie Date 31.05.06 09:30 UTC
 Ok Thanks Mate :)
I take it the M4 goes over the A34 then, so I need to go up to the left to the island then just go round to come back down but not actually back on the A34 cos there will be a slip road left which is what I want?
Have I got that right?
- By megan57collies Date 31.05.06 09:59 UTC
I have a map from when I did the show at Chievely. I will scan it in and email it to you but effectively you are right. It's not that bad honest. A really nice run out. Takes approx 1 hour 15 from yours.
