hello

I need advice urgently I have 2 mini dashchunds Milly and Molly and while walking today a mongrel dog attacked them and I do mean attacked! Milly and Moly were both on there lead however the other dog pounced on them and started biting Millys back - molly struggled to get free and pulle her coller off and ran off! I am worried that they are going to become scared of other dogs now! Any advice!

have lots of controlled interactions with similar looking dogs. praise any good behaiviour and ignore any fear but take them further away until they are comfortable with the dog. then gradually move them closer

Poor Milly..:( was she badly injured?
You must be quite shook up too, if you put 'socialising dog after attack' in the search facility you'll find lots of threads discussing this, and can read others experiences.
HTH :)

Sorry to hear about your girls. My boy was attacked at a creche by a newfoundland and I was a little worried that he would be fearful of the next one he saw. Nope, he just marched over tail wagging like nothing had ever happened. I only say this to point out that when you go out next you will probably be suffering enough anxiety for the both of them and they might pick up on that. If possible try to be really relaxed and normal. You may find they are just fine, and will remain that way if you are confident. You wouldn't want to send stress down the lead. I hope they're fine allibone.

Molly was attacked by my friend patterdale terrier. We were in a park and they were meeting for the first time so everything was (or so we thought very ccontrolled) and when he went to sniff her for the second time he decided she was obviously very tasty so latched onto her. The noise she made was horrendous and my friend and I tried getting hime off and a lovely lady came and asked if we were ok. Eventually had to stick my nails into his gums. My friend was besides herself and so was Molly but we continued with the walk only with him on a short lead. Anyway I'll get to the point, Molly was weary of the next couple of dogs when I took her out until a gorg yorkie ran over to her to say hello. Molly obviously needed that friendly greeting and is now back to her usual self albeit a little more weary (which for her wasn't a bad thing!) of other dogs.

Hope Milly and Molly are recovering well and you are too.
Hugs from Molly and Freya
