Well i have just got the results of a blood test of  my mongrel pesto

It was supposed to not show anything up and was just to check she was fine so that we could start her on propanalol for her noise phobia so that we could actually do some good in her desensitisation.

Anyway got it back and there are some abnormalities. As i work at my vet and i am only 18 they seem to sweep my questions under the carpet and i end up feeling rather neglected (i don't want to change vets as they are brilliant but i just need my mum to talk to them). Any ways i got her "rutine" blood test results and her creatinine is very high. I just wanted to ask what experiences people have had when this is raised and so on.

I know it has something to do with her kidney. A little history - as a pup she always had urine infections so i am know really worried. help.

She really is my lifeline and has helped me through so many problems and i am just so worried that i may loose her earlier than i thought. i am probably over reacting but i am so scared.

Hi Anna, Creatinine is a breakdown product of creatine, which is an important part of muscle.  Heavy exercise can show high levels of creatinine in the blood.  So if your dog had heavy exercise a few days before the test was taken, then there may be high levels of Creatinine in the blood.  That's just one reason I can think, there may be others.  Was the BUN level ok?

If the creatinine is high due to excersise then the CK should also be high which it wasn't.
She also had a very high ATM - we think this could be damage from the chocolate poisoning she had at christmas (mum let her out of the kitchen without putting a present bag away :( very scary time)

Thanks anyway. Isuppose i will just have to wait and see what they tell my mum. fingers crossed
