Last week at SKC 2 of the dogs that we brought over from America won BOB Yogi owned by Alexa Sutton, his 6th since coming into the country plus a res. BIS at Boston last show, and my Barbie was BOS her 3rd.

We are so pleased that we did bring them into the country

Well done!

I watched the Tibetans at Birmingham, and I was really dissappointed.  I dont wish to sound rude, but the majority had never seen a brush!!  They had clumps of fur sticking out of them and looked quite dreadful, is this the norm?  They are a breed I truly love, but was vey upset to see this, also the fact that they seemed to have shrunk!  From an impressive animal to a small dog that did nothing to raise an eyebrow!!  I must say though that the BOB was magnificent, (dont know who it was) beautifully presented, my idea of a Tibetan!

Yogi the American import got BOB at Birmingham as well, the trouble with coats at this time of the year is they are falling out in great big clumps, you can groom one day and by the next they look like and explosion in a mattress factory. Some people do not know wether to take it all our or smooth what they can. Not all is bad grooming. I was not there to see it

Ahhhh that was him, lovely boy.

Honestly though the presentation was awful.  I believe they should not be penalised for a summer coat?  If so then surely the coat would be better out than in?  Just an observation, its a breed I adore.

When I have been in Nepal mostly in the Annapurna Santuary area, high up the trails at the teahouse stops you frequently come across Tibetian Mastiff type dogs that are the size of Labradors.  They look exactly the same as a TM but just smaller.

Well said Lynn. Dawn, problem is the coat will only come out when it is ready and it is not all ready at the same time:-) and they don't all blow at the same time. I agree that Yogi is very nice though!

Come and see us again, there are lots of dogs the same size as Yogi (maybe not as nice but that happens in all breeds) and one or two bigger.

Hi Lynn,

Saw the caravan park-see your point! Yogi looked good Sunday, well deserved.

Presentation in TMs isnt their strong point - although the point about summer coats and when they blow is a valid one. well done on another win with Yogi.

Yogi now has 7 BOB, we are using him on my Slovakian import this year coming up I am pleases to say, I have 2 more coming in this year from America, and another from Hungry next year. Hopefully this will move Tibetan Mastiff's up the showing board.

Tibetan Mastiff's are a breed that have moved very slowly through the ranks of showing, which I think is only right as they are not an easy breed, but the importation of new lines may may intise (sp) new people to take an interest in the breed, the input of new dog people is much needed in the breed. Maybe not novice breeders but people with in interest from other breeds
