Topic Dog Boards / General / HELP - Misty has gone mad!!!!
- By kerrib Date 26.05.06 09:47 UTC
As some of you may know I was gradually changing Misty's food over to Burns.  Well, she has now been 100% on this for nearly a week and we were starting to notice the difference but for the past day she has been running around like a headless chicken, she has just gone completely and utterly nutty !  She hasn't stopped at all, its almost like she is climbing the walls.

I have just gone into our utility room where I keep all her food and bits and pieces and found an empty box of complete food that we were given in a free puppy welcome pack from the vets.  It was a 500g box of a well known brand

Is it possible that this food has affected her in this way or is it just simply a case of the next stage of puppyhood??! Please help me.... :D :D

Sounds like normal puppy behaviour to me :D

If she has been fine on the new food, and has helped herself to something :D and then 'gone mad' I would definately be blaming the extra food in her diet  ;) Keep an eye on her for a few days and see if she returns to normal, that way you will know for sure :)

:-P  If it is the brand of food I am thinking of that is usually in puppy packs, I have not known it to make dogs hyper, maybe not so good on the tums, but not really got a lot of colourants in it. So possibly more to do with puppyhood.  If it was another well known brand:rolleyes: I would say so, but I don't think that brand comes in puppypacks.

Is it a very high protien food she,s taken one of mine used to be a bit nutty at times and I found lowering the protien content of her food helped.
Then again she could just be having a mad half hour as pups do most of the time:eek:

I had the same trouble with 2 of mine when they were younger.
I put them on to Pedigree junior and within 10 minutes of eating eat
they went absolutely nuts and crazy on it after every meal.So after 3 days I changed
them onto something else and it stopped almost straight away and they  both went back to normal.

LOL :D :D

I just cant believe the change in her!  She does have her mad half hours but today was like she had been taken over by the devil!!
I have now found scratch marks on my dining room table :mad:where she jumped on to it skidding across the whole length of it before jumping down and running circles around it!!!!   She has finally fallen asleep :) so fingers crossed the food she ate will have worked its way out the other end tomorrow! :D :D

I'm sorry about your unruly baby but it did make me smile about the table, although you must have been furious!

I have found since switching my lot's feeding (NOT going into the whys and wherefores to avoid a heated debate) but when I gave them some of their complete food to use it up, they acted as though they had ADHD. My posh neighbour wasn't too amused either - they lept the fence and rampaged through her garden. (I was mortified.)

It will work it's way out and don't be surprised if there is a "hangover effect".

One day they WILL be obedient...........sigh!

When we first got our first Bedli pup we used pedigree and she was the most lunatic pup I ever knew, at 6 months old I changed her to burns and she calmed right down, the change was amazing !!

I once fed one of my dogs on a pouch of wet adult Pedigree Complete - his normal food is JWB, but I had a free sample and I thought I'd give it to him as a treat.  He's a working cocker so can be a bit hyper at the best of times, but he was boucing off the walls for a day after that meal.  I don't know what they put into the food, but his reaction was akin to being given speed - he just could not calm down.  Never, ever again

Well, it took a whole day and the night but Misty has finally calmed down!!!! :D :D    I have never seen her like it before and hopefully  never again!  My table now has deep scratches across it that no amount of polishing will get rid off so at the moment I have it covered up with a tablecloth.  Good excuse for a new table but still working on that theory with OH   lol :D :D
