Were the 60 million viewers in America tone deaf and blind.  Yes he seemed a nice guy but was definitely more a karaoke king rather than a pop idol!

I must admit that I never watched American Idol, but I do remember one guy that performed on AI in the past (not sure if he won or not) and his name was Justin Guarini. Now, he was really HOT!!:cool:

The one that won this year is cold :d

Looks like a chunky George Clooney, but he's greyer than George.  Moves like a 70 year old and has an OK voice :d

I will be watching it on ITV2 tonight, I heard the result on GMTV yesterday morning and couldn't believe it!!  I wonder what Simon Cowell thought??  The winner reminds me of someone's drunken father dancing in a wedding evening 'do'!!  What a Plonker he is  :)  The Americans must have a very different idea of an 'Idol' from us!!!

Michelle McManus got put through over here and although her voice was OK it was nothing special.  I suppose the Americans did what we sometimes do vote for the under dog!

I don't know how your voting works but it's been complained about here for years.  Instead of 1 vote per household it's 250 votes per household (or as many times as you can get through anyway) and phone lines are tied up until all hours of the morning.  While Taylor may not be 'idol' material, if you watch the whole competition (don't recommend it) he was at least the most consistent.  In all fairness, the 3rd to last to be voted off, Chris, probably should have won the whole thing.

Simon didn't put Taylor through at the try-outs in Vegas.  Paula and Randy did.  Simon said that they'd never pass him through Hollywood and he'd most definitely not be voted on by the public.

And, just to clear the air, American Idol voting gets 3x as many votes as the presidential campaign...so not all those people voted for George.  ;)

No, same here you can vote as many times as you like

Didn't look at the post earlier as I was watching it tonight.  Can't say I liked either of the finalists much, I backed Chris and Mendisa.

But wow what a show. Great entertainment, the Americans certainly know how to do it.

I liked paris, but out of the 2 finalists i would of prefered kathrine to have won.
