Mabel's temp dropped quite low a couple of days ago and then rose again back to 100 - but today has gone right down to 98.4 - Mabel has spent the day pacing back and forward shaking a bit and wimpering, jumping in and out the whelping box to scratch up some paper....so I think I'm in for a long nite!!
Just thought I'd start of this thread so I can keep adding to it over the next few days :)
Bye for now
Suzi

Better get the coffee on good luck

Mabel has just lost some water on the carpet in the front room not sure how much they are supposed to loose when their waters go?? this was just a small amount - I called her over straight away and encouraged her into the whelping box, bless her she's so obedient and got up and jumped in straight away then lost a little more. I was wondering if it could have been just wee and then she turned around and started cleaning herself and then licked up the water so must have been her waters going :)
This is so exciting :)
Just going back to take over from my husband so will be back on a little later to let you all know the latest
Bye for now
Suzi

Good luck! Sounds like you are in for a long night :-p But it's
so worth it!
Keeping fingers crossed for a beautiful litter and a happy mum!
Karen
She's started to push on and off with the contractions and some greenish fluid has come out is this good??
Reading the book of the bitch(again!!) and all the others that I'd got from the library!! Just to make sure that I haven't missed anything
Any way better get back will let you know what's happerning soon
Suzi
Any news on the puppy front...

All sounds good ~ I imagine you must have at least 1 puppy by now?
Edited to add ~ I remember my first litter, I was on the phone to my friend & said "oooh she's just done a bright green wee!!" Her puppies were not far behind :)
Looking forward to hearing good news
Nothing yet we did see a bag comming out about an hour a go but went back in and nothing since!!!
This is really difficult don't want to be phoning the vet all the time but unsure how long to leave it?? seeing as we have had some greenish water and then bloody stains is this normal??
She is pushing every now and then and still seems unsettled but nought is happening!!
Just want the first one out then we can breath a sigh of relief
Suzi

I would be calling the vet....its been a while now.
Good Luck xxxx
Making the husband do it whilst I make a quick cuppa!

Hi Suzi
I would go give the Vet a call just to play safe, time is moving on now ~ keep us posted

Hi Suzi,
Just read your last post. I agree with the above, I too would give the vet a call. Unless things have moved on now, and the first pup is out and well. Keep us posted.
Good luck,
Karen

any news yet? what did the vet say? hope everything is ok
Hooray :)
Finally the first one is out at ten past 1 phew he was coming out bum first!! Boy aye they give you all the grief!!
Made Mabel stand up as she was getting no contractions and about a minute after I got her up on her feet things started happening :)
She was bearing down properly for the first time and really going for it and then the Vet phoned us back and said bring her in so we said ... Give us 10 mins coz we think things are finally happening and yep they sure were almost as soon as we hung up my hubby said "hang on I can see a tail and feet - blimey it's bum first no wonder we are having problems!!"
Mabel wasn't sure what to do when he came out, so we had to cut the cord in the end and rub the little mite but he doing fine and she's now licking him like crazy and well as you can read I'm so chuffed and excited and shaking now :)
will keep you all informed what happens next

Glad all was well
Welcome to the world little ones :)
Congratulations hope mum and babies and humans are all ok.
Wow this has been one serious day!
I'm shattered and it's only just beginning - Mabel seems really unsettled with the pups and I have spent most of the day trying to encourage her to lay down so they could feed - then ended up having to wisk her and No1 pup to the vets as it just won't feed and it needed a saline injection and they showed me how to get colostrum for her to feed on - been home for a couple of hours now and at long last Mabel seems to have settled down with them for a good feed and a sleep :)
Wish me luck over the next few days!
Suzi

Congratutions to you all, well done Mabel for doing a fine job, hope puppies & mum thrive. Good luck Meggidy & well done.

Good luck Suzi. I hope Mabel and all those new little ones get on well.
Good luck to you, I hope all goes well fingers crossed eh xxxxxxxxx
Hi Meggidy,
Your other post is locked due to you already having one going here, so just to put your mind at rest re: The licking and cleaning.
Your bitch needs time to rest and adapt and come to terms with her first litter, she has just eaten all those birth sacks and given birth, the pups will have all been cleaned by her then, she will automatically lick and stimulate the pups when ready so don't worry. She needs to rest now.
Thanks for that :)
Just going through the usual worrys for first time whelp - Sorry
Well done, just read this post, enjoy them time gos by so fast, my pups are now 6 weeks and will soon be leaving home, but ive enjoyed them so much. By the way my daughters dates were not right, and she gave birth yesterday morning at 417am baby girl 7lb 30z ive been really worried but alls ok. baby was very late but is doing well. Good luck to ever one who have new puppys make the most of them, warm regards to every one Debbie.
