OK chaps, i have just got back from hairdressers (dont laugh.....i do go occassionally you know!

)
My hairdresser refers to me as "the dog lady" which is somewhat embarassing, but anyway today she was bursting to tell me her news. A few weeks ago they visited a litter of very much pet/novice bred ESS on a farm.......booked a puppy. Visited again at 6 weeks & saw she had a mark on her leg so breeder took pup to vet who said she must have knocked it. end of story. Hairdresser collected her puppy on saturday, went to vet (different vet) To register it/get it checked over but vet says mark on leg is actually a tumour!

Anyway they hadit removed & the lab result back last nght & they say its (she couldnt actuall recall proper name unfortunately) mast cell sarcoma. Now to have that at 8 weeks of age sounds very worrying to me. She asked me to find out what i could so am now asking any ESS folk if this is something prevalent in the breed or is she extremely unlucky? Anyone seen it in other breeds this young please?
I think that she is extremely unlucky, unfortunately this is quite common and it affects all genders, colours and breeds, it is more prevalent in boxers also affects, labs, weimars, beagles, bulldogs many, many breeds of dogs, EES is not one that stands out more so, there is some reseach that thinks perhaps golden and red coated dogs may be more affected, but it is usually age related, so this is extremely unlucky.
