Topic Dog Boards / General / pooper scooper search
- By ChinaBlue [gb] Date 22.05.06 17:40 UTC
I have had hand held (not long handled) pooper scoopers that are spring loaded for years, my last one has now had one of the springs snap. It actually broke, so I couldn't fix the spring back. But the company that made them I believe went out of business. So, am trying to find spring loaded pooper scoop. I really don't want one of these 'no bending down' ones, which is all I can seem to find, because it makes quite a task of putting the poop into the carrier bag (I use it in the garden - outside I just collect with the poo bag over my hand. Does anyone know where I can get one? PLEASE

Thanks
Kat

nips ate the last remnants of the old poop scoop last week and i've reverted to my original and much more effective method of collecting up the stuff - a dirt cheap garden trowel!

Thanks for all replies

Thanks PamRats for the link, but again, it is a long handled one. The one underneath, which is what I do want isn't a spring loaded one - oh b*m.

Roz If I use the garden trowel, it rolls off, or leaps off (if it's a bit 'stuck down')  3 big dogs = lots of poo! The old one was fabulous, I just don't understand why they don't make them like this anymore. Any more help anyone:confused:

I put a bin bag in a large empty flowerpot and then use a garden shovel (and a rake to shove the poo onto it). I have to be honest and say I only pick up once a day and with 4 large dogs that's a lot to pick up. I've found this to be the easiest (no bending) and cheapest (tesco value binliner) option :)

Small bucket with tesco bag shoved in, lie the bucket on it's side then a sharp flick with a trowel. When all collected, tie the bag handle and in the bin......job done.

At home I have a dustpan and brush which is kept for cleaning up after the dog and then goes in a bucket of Jeyes fluid and water till next time. When out and about I use a poo bag over my hand and pull it over the mess and dispose of accordingly. The bags are kept in a pocket or tucked in my waistband something I couldn't do with a pooper scooper.

Hi there, don't know whether this will help you, hope so :-)  We got ours from here and it is spring loaded.  Dunno what the difference is between the 2 advertised but we've got the grass one.  Have a look and see what you think:

Garden trowel. But isn't it sooooooooooo much easier in the frost! and so very very difficult in the rain

not half! i love those cold frosty mornings!!:D

although most mornings are better than the one after someone forgot that the leftover rice he'd given the dog had originally accompanied my prawns in chili sauce!!

Thanks everyone
Going off now to check out the new leads. Oh yeah, don't we all love the frosty days when even the wet ones can be peeled off the lawn:eek:

Feeling sure I'd seen one of the poop scoops you're looking for, I looked on the internet last night, and what I did come across is a spray can of something that freezes the poop!  Whatever next! ...ready packaged ones would be good! :)
