I have just been told THt my brother is to be married in seven weeks and I am to be best man. Nice thought but i am like a house end im the biggest i have ever been at 17 stone!!! I really need to loose weight before the wedding. I know the crash diets doent hold the weight off for ever and you should do it slowley to ensure saftey and to ensure that the weight stays off however really want to loose at least a stone in the seven weeks. Can anyone recommend a crash diet to go with my crash excercise pattern? lol
Hope you can help

Weight watchers! I lost 9lbs in my first week by simply following the plan and sticking to the points

You being male will lose it much faster - you men always do! Go to www.weightwatchers.co.uk and have a peep at the forum, there's plenty of men on there and you'll get loads of tips - good luck!

You could always try going vegan for a while, im not strictly vegan but I find i can eat looooooads of vegan food without putting on weight. Also make sure all the food you eat is homemade and not processed so you know exactly what goes into it. Shame that all the nice things are laden with salt and saturated fat but there you go.
Its nice, really it is :D
Good luck with the speeches in all that!!

Lucy's way is the most logical. I am on the Slimming World diet and it is very very easy. I would have lost loads more but I can't keep off the Ribena

:D Tonight I have had a salad with rump stead, prawns and smoked salmon. MY OH keeps saying "Are you sure?" because I keep stuffing my face with food and yet I keep losing weight :D
One lady at the club lost 2 stones in 2 months.

I,m on slimming world diet and so far I can honestly say I,ve never felt hungry or had any heartburn or indegestion in fact I,ve never felt better.
I started seven weeks ago and I,ve lost one stone five pounds so far I eat loads and loads and don,t even feel as if I,m dieting give it a go and I bet you could lose a good stone before the wedding Im doing it so that hopefully I can show my own dog again if you,ve got an incentive to lose weight it helps,I bet you,ll look great by the time the wedding comes around. good luck

Try and find the Sacred Heart diet,it really does drop the weight, its the one the big obesity hospitals in America use,I have cut the calories,am exercising like a lunatic, also doing ten miles per day on treadmill, but seem stuck at 15 and half stone, must say was 16 and half at christmas,so I suppose I should not complain, but may go on Sacred Heart diet for a couple of weeks,to jsut start getting it off again,

Having read through all the posts, Lucy's is by far the best option for weightloss. It's guaranteed!
Also, don't feel pressured into losing weight simply for a wedding. I know it seems important now, but in the grand scheme of things, it's not the end of the world.
Good luck.

Lucy's is the most logical but I wouldn't say it's the best. The SW diet is very good and is about food optimising. The reason you don't ever feel hungry is because you are allowed unlimited free foods and these just vary on the choice of diet (2 choices) for the day. Today I am going on Green and I can have unlimited rice, pasta, potatoes, baked beans fresh fruit, fresh veg and various other foods. Today I will have to limit so weigh my meat and fish. I am encouraged to also have 3 healthy options a day one of which is dairy and I always have milk so that's my tea covered. Muller Light yogurts are unlimited at anytime.
Yesterday I was on what's called an original day so you have to restrict potatoes, pasta, rice and others in this list. I was allowed to have unlimite lean meat and fish so had chicken salad for lunch and lean meat and fish salad for evening. Also allowed unlimited fresh fruit and veg (except potatoes, peas and parsnips on this day)
Obviously you cut out all the junk, sugar and fat basically but I think the SW diet is a very healthy diet because you can't help but eat healthily what with all the free fruit and veg. My skin hasn't been so clear in ages and I am sure this is why. My only problem is that I am still having my weekend wine.
The SW diet is supposed to be a change for life. They also guarantee weight loss or money back.
Counting calories is the most logical way of losing weight because obviously you are eating less than you are burning off. Having done this inthe past though I found it difficult to stick to
I swear by weight watchers. I have been on it for about 17 weeks now and have lost 2stone 9.5lbs. I follow the points system and also exercise quite a lot. It really is very very good and I don't feel hungry at all and it doesn't feel like a diet :)

there is a diet allegedly used by hospitals for people who are to undergo surgery to get them to a more apropriate weight quickly. I remember seeing the sheet years ago and it had things like hot dog sausages on it. It was very restrictive but you only did it for a week or two at a time. I think it was called something like the heart diet. sorry this probably is no use to you but it might be worth searching net. if all else fails get yourself to a beauty salon for an inch loss wrap and a pair of magic pants, I'm sure there must be a mens version out there somewhere.

I think you need to think about what you eat from the point of view of your health. You can't really do better than adopt the recommended regime of 5 fruit and veg a day, switch to brown bread, limit red meat etc, watch what you are drinking

and walk a bit brisker when talking the dog out, in which case I am sure your weight will reduce but I think crash dieting is a big mistake. Rather than attempt to shift excess weight in a very limited space of time I would invest in a really well cut suit. Big blokes look great when they are properly suited :) then sell it on Ebay when your new eating regime does slim you down some :)
The best way is, as has already be said, to follow a good eating and exercise plan. but, if you want a 'fast loss' and have plenty of will power and staying power, you could try Atkins, this will give a fast loss in most cases, but the food is very limited, or for a really fast loss which does take much willpower is the cambridge diet. this is drinks/soups and you can find thier details at their website, or buy the diet yourself on ebay. but this is a drastic step, although it does get good reviews, and you need to be in good health to do it and drink plenty of water. the problem is coming off it, as you can expect a weight gain if you dont follow their plan.
As Isobel said, good fitting clothes can make anyone overweight look good, and really the best thing is not to try just for one occasion, but for life. As with any weight loss plan, consult your doctor first.
