Can anyone help or advise on this please? I have a 16 month Welsh Springer. He had a head tilt and seemed to be struggling to hear so he had a 7 day course of anitbiotic tablets. Seemed to do the trick but then about 5 days later he had 2 funny "turns" - dizziness and rapidly moving eyes from side to side, plus walking round in circles. Thinking about it he had been falling over when playing with other dogs, stumbling, wobbly when cocking his leg and missing sharp turns etc when out for his daily walk. So putting the two things together his balance was off. Took him back to vets and they gave him antibiotic eardrops. He had these for 3 days and they made no difference, in fact he seemed worse - more funny turns, etc. Took him back and diagnosis is middle ear infection. More antibiotic tablets - this time a 10 day course to start with and likely he'll be on them for a few weeks, even after he appears back to normal. He's been on them since Monday and I can't see that there's been any improvemenet in him. He has however only had one funny turn (I've forgotten the name of these - something beginning with N) which was last night when on a short lead walk from home. It didn't last long - about 10 -15secs. Have spoken to the vet and advised not to worry since the antibiotics need more time, Just wondered of anyone else had a similar experience and could offer some advice or insight. How long can middle ear infections last? Thanks in anticipation of some assistance!

Yes it was Nystagmus! Thanks for remembering. I suppose I will just have to see how he goes over the weekend, but he's already at the end of day 5. As you say if it is a severe infcetion it will probably take longer and I do trust my vet so perhaps I just need to be patient and stop over worrying about him!! Thanks and I 'll let you know how we get on.
