hello all- my bitch had first season just before xmas, this was her first and relatively normal for a first one.
but then she had another feb/march time- this time exactly like a normal season- but no blood.
more so- she is now still the same, not as swollen and no blood, but attracting lots of attention, humping the cats and mums pups, etc
so now its been nearly 6months since the first season, dont really know what to do- or the best time to get her speyed???
shes 11 months old and lakie x irish terrier

If there was no blood, how can you be so sure it was a season she had in Feb/March?
My bitch had her first season in Feb, and a few weeks ago went distinctly mardy. Luckily I'd read the relevant bit in the Book of the Bitch (which i would recommend to anyone, btw) and was sort of half-expecting it. According to the book, all bitches go through the same hormonal changes following a season regardless of whether they're in whelp or not (which is why you get phantom pregnancies). Then they go through a further hormonal phase around the time puppies would be due if they were in whelp. Lola was more or less bang on, her moodiness started 75 days after the start of her season.
I'm very inexperienced (Lola is is my first bitch) but I'd hazard a guess that's what your girl's Feb/March thing was about, and she's now coming in again.
I believe the best time to get them spayed is a few weeks after their season, but I'd check with your vet. I'd also recommend a copy of Book of the Bitch by J M Evans and Kay White. I mentally give thanks to the person who recommended it to me several times a week!
