Earnsfield Teal appears to crop up in quite a few Golden Retriever Pedigrees including my last dog...he was his father. Also in my new pup he is several generations back in his pedigree.
I am interested to know if anyone can tell me something of the character of Earnsfield Teal as both my dogs have such similar traits and I would like to find out if it is coincidence, a Golden Retriever thing or if it has come down the generations?

Hi
Thanks for those.
Having spent a bit of time looking it does appear that Earnsfield Teal was a popular stud dog at that time as he cropped up in all pedigrees of the breeders we went to.
I was just intrigued as a non breeder about where my dogs traits came from but I guess the charcteristics are those of the working dogs borne down through the generations. Slight fantasy on my part that there may be some similarities between my two dogs just because they came from the same line of Earnsfield Teal!?
Mind you in some areas they are like chalk and cheese. My first retriever was so laid back and where my new lad is very wilful. Better they are not entirely the same....he is his own character.

He's obviusly a working bred dog, and the work and show dogs in Goldens are quite different to each other in both looks and temperament (there are a few dual purpose that do both) so that could explain it. :)
