i have a 10 month cocker and in the last 2 weeks a fleshy hard lump, like a boil has apperared just under her nose.we took her to the vet on friday and the vet said she had probably cut it and got an infection and have given us some antibiotics.it hasnt made any kind of improvement.her behaviour is the same but i would say she is sleeping a bit more than ususal, her eating is still good but in the last three days she has dirtied in the house which she hasnt done in many months even during her season so i was wondering if it was related to anything?my bf said it could be some kind of skin infection.i hope that anyone can help.thanks, cat

Hi
I would take her back to the vet if no improvement is to be seen after 2 weeks on antibiotics. Sometimes those infections have to be opened and emptied to heal.
Being tired is one of the side effects of antibiotics, loose stools/upset stomach is another.
From how you describe her problem, I don't think she has a skin infektion, but the vet is who you should consult on this. Noone can say for sure without actually examining your dog.
Good luck,
Karen

It generally does take about 3 days for antibiotics to cut in (the antibiotics did not start until Friday RRfriend ;)) so see how it goes.  They can also upset the digestion which could well be the cause of lack of control.  You can give a half teaspoon of live yoghurt to counteract the effect of the antibiotics on the good bacteria in the gut, continuing for a couple of weeks after the course finished.  Don't give too much though as dairy products can upset the bowels too and it does not take much of the bacteria to soon multiply in the warmth of the body.
