Hi all.

I'm not much of one for dog feeding topics however with the struggle of getting our puppy to eat and trying many different foods of different prices/qualities etc we are having problems and the last thing we want is a young puppy not eating enough HOWEVER last night I gave her a pack of natures menu and she loved it, this morning natures diet and couldn't wait for the bowle.  I only brought a pack of each and I know that these are good wet foods however could a puppy grow up on it?  Protein, fat, oils etc are all lower then that in a dried food, would something else have to be fed with it?

I know Nature diet is still a pain to get hold of but hopefully I will be ok as I work in a pet shop on the day of delivery! (first come first served!!!! ;) )

As I say protein etc worries me a little, but would rather puppy ate this then nothing at all.

She is a 5 month old setter.

The protein in ND is actually higher than that of most dry foods, you can't compare the two until you eliminate the water content. The following thread discusses how to work out the actual protein content:

Your pup will grow perfectly fine if fed on either of these and you certainly don't need to supplement with any additional food as they are both complete foods.

Ah ha now I understand...Thank you for that!  Think I might go out and buy her some more!  I haven't seen her as excited as she was this morning since making her scrambled eggs for supper when we first got her home! :D

Lets hope she doesn't go off it! :)  I know that it's a good food and if she eats it then it's perfect IMO! :)

No problem :) I have raised two of mine mostly on ND puppy (I feed it until they are approx 6 months old then put them on raw) and think it is rather good :)

Should be no problems - ND do a puppy version anyway :)    I'd happily raise a pup on it - better that they eat regularly and it's a VG quality food.

Thanks Teri, I gave her the puppy version.  The likly hood is, TBH she will be changed onto a dry food when she is older put for now I want her to eat, and I would rather she ate a good quality food....For a couple of weeks we had her on bakers puppy just so she would eat!!!!!!

Hi Rox, like you I just don't like them to stop eating (ours are a fussy, faddy, finnicky PITA too :rolleyes: )   I think if you break the pattern of them wandering off disinterested or nibbling without any enthusiasm it's more easily overcome and then if you want to feed a different diet it's not such a big deal when you change over.

Glad someone's the same :) infact I'm sure many people are.  I'm so worried if a puppy doesn't eat they won't grow and then, for the show ring it can ruin them and we have a very potential puppy.  I would rather she eats a different food every week.  She does get abit of raw chicken each week aswell just so somethinsg getting in her.

Can't wait till she grows up.  Seems a breed thing to be fussy untill they mature, then they will eat whatever you put in front of them till they explode!  Deosn't help with 4 adults all wanting to have puppies food......
