hi how long is it before you can see or feel puppys moveing inside mum? and around what stage to puppys tend to drop from reasonably high up near the rib cage to further down ?

With our last litter I felt movement on day 42, she also carried high up in the ribs......unfortunately for her, they never dropped down, she ended up having a section.....7 pups. Her ribcage looked really uncomfortable, like she had just swallowed a beach ball.
One of mine I felt the pups moving at just over 5 weeks, but this was after doing a gundog test!! Never ever felt them before or since so early as that, but Lydia is one of my finer girls.
Usually you feel them moving just after 7 weeks. I love that feeling and could sit there all day watching them :d
my girl is 53 days today ,she seems quite large around her ribs but nothing further down so i carnt make my mind up if she is haveing pups or not, this is her second litter ,but last time she seemed to be big all over ,and sooner aswell ,i just dont know im trying desperately to remember but my mind is blank .

I keep a day to day diary from mating to weaning and pups leaving home, so can look back.

I have very rarely ever felt movement of pups in my own bitches, wth littters from 3 to 9 pups.

I could first feel fluttery movements from about 6 weeks, clearly feel them at 7 weeks and by 8 weeks the movements were clearly visible when the bitch was resting, even with small litters (4 and 5 pups).

I bought a stethascope off ebay and well before i saw the pups moving I would listen to their little heart beats :D I could have sat and listened to them all day!

My girl is on day 54 felt them move for the first time (smiles) took her to vets to make sure everything was alright he said there was a lot of movement cannot wait to see them all hopefully.
My girl is now on day 56 and I have spent most of the day watching her resting and the pups kicking like mad, she keeps looking at her bump and giving a little growl as its her first litter I think she's going to be a strict mum.
Mabel has just over a week to go now and had a lovely moment yesterday afternoon with 3 of my children watching the babys move within her and our youngest just had the most beautiful look of wonder on her face - she was whispering so she didn't upset the babys - bless her. We are really looking forward to the event and can't wait for the pups to come. Count down time for us ............... :)
