My newf dropped weight with the spell of hot weather that we had and he lost 7kl i feed euk but the weight does not seem to be going back on , i don't want him really heavy yet as he is a large boy but can anyone recommend a tasty food that may help him to regain what he lost.
I have taken him to the vet and was told that it was just the hot weather he is healthy and fine just slightly under weight.Someone did tell me about James Wellbeloved( Never heard of it ) does anyone use this?
All suggestions will be appreciated.

Hi Deary, cottage cheese,eggs,full fat natural yoghurt,chicken skin breast of lamb should put weight back on him.

I use James Wellbeloved food for my picky eater spaniel and she gets on fine with it. I use the large breed variety. It's quite pricey though, £34 for 15kilos.

I remember someone using a dog food called Rough and Ready.Not sure who makes it.There dog put weight on with that.

Sam why don't you just increase the amount of Euk that you give and also the number of meals per day :-)

My weimar needed to put on some weight and actually still does as he lost it again a couple of weeks ago due to gastro enteritis, then we went on hols and his weight stayed the same whilst he was staying with family. Anyway I feed Euk Large Breed Maintenance and all I have done in the past is increase his meals from 2 to 3 a day and also the amount I give him until he looks like he's put enough weight on then I will monitor him and increase/decrease accordingly. To be honest he never gets exactly the same amount to eat each day anyway, he is on 2 meals a day and I vary slightly how much he gets depending on how much exercise he has had. At the moment I have increased his food by 1 extra scoop per day which is approx. 200 grammes, he's so greedy he'll eat as much as I give him. :-)

I use to use Rough n Ready a few years ago. I found it to be quite a good food but only used it as a "mixer" It has molasses in it, so is quite tacky and damp. The dogs used to really enjoy it.

Dont know how useful these will be on a giant breed - only used them with small/medium dogs. Firstly, Vitamin B12 shots usually increase appetite (used this with horses effectively too). Secondly, a few years ago one of our youong dogs dropped a lot of weight after his first experience mating a bitch. He had never been a greedy eater, and his appetite got even worse, not picky, still ate his usual Eukanuba, but only very small quantities. We were looking for a short term fix as a show was coming up (I know, I know, not sensible thinking), while we looked for the long term solution, and someone suggested a liquid food supplement for the infirm such as complan. I bought some of ths, and also noticed another product in the same area of "Boots" called "crash weight gain", it seemed to be aimed at Body builders. I took both products to my Vet for advice, and after reading the contents she gave the go ahead to try Hugo on the "Crash" stuff, mixed to a Milk Shake with Goats Milk. I got the Chocolate and Vanilla flavours (tiny quantities of Choc. flavouring - would not cause any size dog a problem). He loved both flavours, and worked up to half a pint twice per day. He gained 2lbs a week for 3 weeks, which put him at an ideal weight. It also did exactly as the label said, and boosted his appetite, when we took him off his milk shakes he stayed at his new weight because he was eating well again.
