Hi
Does anyone know if you have to actually enter an obedience show to do a training round or do you just turn up.
My young gsd is doing very well in training ( shame about her handler  lol )but she has to start off in novice as I won out of beginners many years ago.
I don't want to make a fool of myself so thought I would do a couple of training rounds to give us both a bit of confidence.

Every dog(even the underage puppies between 4 & 6 months old)that attend an KC obedience show have to be entered either in the handlers lowers lowest class. If you want to work a training round your dog has to be entered in the class

Lots of people do training rounds(if the judge allows it & the steward is willing to call the round of course)so if you want to enter & do a training round you won't be on your own.In one class I judged last 12 out of the first 16 dogs that worked did training rounds LOLOL my steward & I thought we mst have frightened the handlers ;) We did end up with enough dogs that worked to fill the places

I'm just in the process of receiving entries for our shows LOL it's just as well I have a tried & tested system so I clear the entries & record them as they are received
