Does anyone know of any interesting/good pet shops in London? My friend from the States is visiting next week and we plan to spend a few days in London sightseeing/shopping.I've been doing alot of googling but other than the Selfridges pet department I haven't found much.I was hoping to take her to the Pet London shop but I see there isn't one  There must be some posh pet stores somewhere.I took her to crufts last year so we were spoiled for choice
All suggestions greatfuly received

Harrods has a pet department, but it's nothing special.

Don't they still sell puppys though? Last I heard they weren't stocking them in the shop but were still acting as agents:rolleyes:

If your friend is here next week, you could take the train from Liverpool Street out to Brentwood, in Essex, where there is the ALL ABOUT DOGS show on for the weekend.   Lots of stalls, lots of dogs, flyball, agility, Mary Rae etc etc etc.

Brentwood's only about 35 mins from Liverpool Street, as well.

Shall you be there?

I expect so - I had completely forgotten about it :) I haven't a clue what's on - Sunday morning is when we usually go, but will have to consult the OH :)

That would have been ideal and thank you for the suggestion but we're heading to the Norfolk coast for the weekeend and planned on doing London midweek. We will be giving Harrods a big miss but I was hoping there might be somewhere a bit special elsewhere. We're going to be all over London so hopefuly we'll come accross one :)

Or take the train to Stafford, hop on the bus that stops outside the Country Showground and go to Birmingham champ show on Friday for Hounds and Terriers, and other breeds weekend.

Yes they do, although there are frequently none in the store.  The stuff on sale, though, is mostly expensive, tasteless tat :).  Margot's idea sounds a great deal better in fact any half decent sized show with a couple of stalls or more is going to have more useful, better value stuff than Harrods.
Harrods does have a pretty good book store though.  Last time I looked there were lots of dogs books including some decent breed specific ones.

A woman after my own heart, Isabel :D I hate 'tasteless tat' :D :D I never buy my dogs anything unless what they have got is worn-out/broken :D :D They couldn't care less :D :D

Hi,

Theres Pugs & Kisses in Fulham and Pet Pavillion in Chelsea they are the only ones I know off that might be of interest!

As well as the others already listed Animal Fair in Kensington and Pets in Town in Greenwich. I am not sure what your friend would like to see but Pet Shops over here are quite different to ones Stateside. Most can be seen in about 5 minutes! Have fun anyway.

Pets in Town in Grenwich is just awful, full of things with no practical use and far too expensive!

I agree but each to their own. Harrods is a case in point!
