Hi
It varies but bitches can bleed for about 8 weeks after giving birth.

You can have the puppies DNA tested to check who is the father of who and can then register them.

Thankyou for answering me, i really appreciate it, umm,how much does it cost to have them dna tested, as my dog  buster doesnt have any papers,we had him at 18 months and ive fallen in love with the stffy's  i would have used him otherwise. I am aware that i can get them tested as it states on my bitches papers that she has been dna screened, im absolutely gutted as i wanted a litter so i could start ringcraft with my children. My bitch is of champion quality, sire, brothers sisters etc are all champions and even international champions, so this has been such a loss to me and also her, she has just turned 6 and im not sure if they will reg the pups if she is over 6  what do i do? HELP!!

You can register the pups up to a year old at the normal price, thereafter single dogs are something like £50.

You need to get cheek swabs from each pup and your bitch and the stud dog.  You will then be sent the results of which is sired byt the stud and which not.  You may be really luckty and they may al or mostly be by him, and these can be registered.

I don't think the tests are that expensive, about £20 each pup I seem to remember hearing.

Phone the KC and ask them exactly what to do.  You should realy have done this a few weeks ago so the paperwork woudl be back by now.

Certainly if you have paid a strud fee for a decent dog you wnat to be able to register the pups that are his.

Was that her first litter at 6 years old?? To be honest it's a very hard lesson to learn, maybe it would be better to get them both neutered? As the bitch will be too old to mate next time round anyway? Then start again and buy in a decent bitch and look for a decent dog to sire the litter...all the best, Dawn

I'm confused are all 3 of these dogs Staffies?  Or is Buster a different breed?

If all 3 are the same breed then I commend you for being so honest :-) many would have just registered them anyway under the stud Staffie with papers.

As to your worries, if you do not wish to go ahead with the DNA testing and just sell the pups as unregistered (again not sure if crosses or Staffs) then yes, the price will be much less. It will not necessarily make a difference to the homes of your pups, just be very selective and only let the pups go to homes and people you are happy with, you need not upset yourself with this where the pups go is entirely in your hands.

I can imagine how upset you are over the mating, one of the hazzards of having an entire male in the house I'm afraid.

It would benefit you to have them DNA'd though, the pups may well be the studs.

Yes, they are all staffy's , they are all pedegree but buster is an athletic and bebe is irish and the stud is also irish and from the same blood line. But i had buster from a friend without his papers, he's a cracking looker, dnt get me wrong, but i was advised that it was best to keep the bloodline. So i used her 2nd cousin, some of my puppies are the spit of him, so mabe it would be worth having them dna tested, but do i have a deadline:confused:.I only bred my bitch because i wanted a puppy of the same quality as her to start ringcraft as a hobbie with, as a child i showed dobermanns and i thought it would be a great thing to get the kids interested in, but i think i will only get the bitch i keep screened, she is so well preportioned it would be a shame not to, so thanx all that have helped me with my dilemma!!!:cool:xxx

Irish Staffs are not recognised by the KC so can't be registered
- By Brainless [gb] Date 07.05.06 10:52 UTC
I am confused.  Are your bitch and the stud KC registered staffords from Ireland, or registered with the Irish Kennel Club, or are the the so called unregisterd dogs oten called Irish staffords?
- By welshgirl_76 [gb] Date 07.05.06 15:17 UTC
havent got a clue but i was told that the bitch was an irish brred n buster has a slightly different head shape to her,i am just going on what i have been told:confused:she is registered with south wales kennel club and i havent got no info on buster, but you can see he is pedegree, but with bebe's bloodlines i was afraid to register thye puppies n lie,As the puppies are deffinately show quality.

she is registered with south wales kennel club

Do you mean South Wales Kennel Association This is not a dog register but an association that holds shows under licence from the Kennel Club(as in the UK Kennel Club) I know the SWKA doesn't run a dog registry so how is your bitch registered with them ?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 07.05.06 16:05 UTC

>she is registered with south wales kennel club

 As Moonmaiden says, there's a 'South Wales Kennel Association' but that isn't a registry - the only registration body in the UK that has any validity is The Kennel Club, Based in Clarges Street, London. What is the address of this 'registry' you mention?
- By Jeangenie [gb] Date 08.05.06 07:54 UTC
To add - if your bitch (and the sire!) aren't registered with 'The Kennel Club' based in Clarges Street, they effectively aren't registered. This means that there's little point in doing DNA tests because the puppies can't be registered either - neither can they be shown at Kennel Club shows.

I don't think there is any point in getting Buster tested as, with him being unregistered the puppies sired by him will have very little value.  I would just have the puppies matched against the stud dog although I would imagine you would need permission from his owners.
- By spanishwaterdog [gb] Date 05.05.06 09:14 UTC
If she has Buster tested then she'll know which ones are sired by him!  You still need to contact the other stud dogs owner to let them know the situation though.
- By Brainless [gb] Date 05.05.06 09:54 UTC
If she wants to register them though she will need to contact the stud dog owner about ti, so may as well ahve him DNA tested, ro he may already be.
- By Isabel Date 05.05.06 09:58 UTC
I'm not sure the KC accept a process of elimination to determine these things :)  Of course you could just not tell them but honestly is always the best policy, you never know what might come out of the woodwork in the future :)
