My Chihuahua boy is so skinny and I simply don't know what to do. He's 12 months old, very healthy and extremely active. He eats enough (in my opinion), I feed him twice a day. he gets dry Arden Grange food in the morning and some chicken and rice or something similar in the afternoon. He's extremely active though, so I guess he burns it all by running around.
I'm kind of concerned as even few judges at the dog show mentioned it! .... anyway, my question was what to feed him, so he'll get a little bit of meat on his bones???

Hi, my 8 month old Cav boy is quite skinny and I've just started him on the Arden Grange Prestige which is supposed to be good for getting weight on - or is that what you are already using?

Thanks all. He eats Arden Grange Puppy and the bag is white and yellow.....

Maybe it's worth giving him more AG? Also chicken and rice is a bland diet, I take it both are cooked! Maybe add some AG into that meal aswell.
If ever my dog look skinny I just up there amounts (visa versa if they are looking chubby!)

chicken and tripe :)

Maybe give the prstige food a try, it is apparently very dense in nutrients and calories made with fresh chicken.

ice queen, I have tried giving him more AG, but he won't eat..... he eats a certain amount and that's it! I guess I should change chicken with some other meat and switch from rice to something like pasta......

Pasta will have about the same calories as rice.

Hello, I give my puppy breast of lamb as he is/was a skinny little mite (he is also fed either Hills or Royal Canin).

I was thinking about Royal Canin Chihuahua as well. I tried AG Prestige, but it's a little bit too big for him. He doesn't like it........

Which AG is he on? I would put him on the Prestige which is calorie dense.

Has he been wormed recently.

Yes I thought of that too, but he's always been like this so that can't be the reason. I did take him to the vet 2 weeks ago and he gave him some pills just in case.

Did the vet say he was too skinny?
I've got 'thin' dogs but the vet tells me they are just fine. I don't think they are thin, but in comparison to other dogs they do look it but it's more a case of other dogs are too porky!
Afraid I don't know anything about Chihuahuas but it could be that you are worrying without reason.

No, the vet didn't say anything. He said it's probably just the was he is, but looks 100% healthy. So I guess it's just my preferences really..... I'd like him to be a bit more compact.

And the judges prefer males that are a bit bigger than my little boy.
