Topic Dog Boards / Behaviour / fear of traffic

A question about one of my puppies this time.
I have two Boxer puppies 13 weeks old, and i take them on short walks seperatley twice a day.
One of the pups is fine with walking and ignores the traffic the majority of the time unless it is very loud.
The other pup is terrfied and crouches down, cowering as the traffic comes past. She is the most nervous of the two with new things but is extremely confident at home.
I try not to reassure her as i know she will see this as praise but i'm not sure on how i can get her to overcome this fear?
Should i let her watch the traffic or should i encourage her past and pull her lead more to get her to follow me?
I live in a cul de sac so can't get to the park if i don't go along this main road.

Thanks for the help on the jealous rottie

I would be inclined to take her to a bus stop (or somewhere where you can sit down) - and just sit there, with traffic going past - for 10 mins or so.  Just sit there, taking no notice of the traffic - talking to someone else maybe - and get her to sit.   Reward her for her sits - and for ignoring the cars/lorries going past.

Hiya,

I would get her into some car parks where cars are stationary or slow moving, take out some treats with you and when you see a car approaching get her to sit and then praise her. Then when she gets confident with that move on to maybe a bench by a road or as suggested above a bus stop, be as casual as possible and praise with treats when she doesn't react to the traffic.  When she's comfortable with that move on to walking by the road, again with lots of praise when she doesn't react; and just build up in stages like that.  I would take it very slowly and don't take her to any places with busy zooming traffic as the noise can be as off putting as anything to them.  My girl used to have a problem with traffic, I spent about 2 months working on it every day, started off in the car parks for about 2 weeks before moving on to the road and she's great now.  If something big is coming passed I still get her to sit though as she feels safer like that.

I'm sure you'll get it sorted without any problems.
