Topic Dog Boards / Breeding / Scanning in Cornwall
- By helenRR [gb] Date 03.05.06 14:22 UTC
I know that i brought this up on another thread but if you live in cornwall you maybe won't look on a thread about a service in Lancs.
So, does anyone in cornwall know where i can get my bitch scanned? We thought our vets scanned but apparently they don't. Mind you the girl i spoke to didn't even know what 'in whelp' meant:rolleyes::rolleyes::mad:

I don't know if a large animal vet would be accurate re numbers? Also our horse vet charges a fortune per minute.

Ideas please?

I used to use a sheep scanner when I lived in Wales, she was brilliant.  You could maybe try that avenue?

I wanted to use a sheep one but cant find any  of those either. Nearest to us i can find is in Holsworthy Devon.:rolleyes:
I have got her booked in at another vets for monday, at least they knew what 'in whelp' meant and told me that they need to be done between days 30 and 35. So i have some degree of confidence in them!

Why don't you phone Keith who is mentioned on the other message and ask him if he knows of anyone else that's able to do it? :d

i found a very good one in exeter...sorry its not much closer than holsworthy!!!
what about westmoor vet.preactice in tavistock?
- By helenRR [gb] Date 05.05.06 15:38 UTC
i have found one  a bit closer now, one that i have been advised has a scanner that is 'all singing and dancing'. So i am looking forward to that! Does the vet join in as well i ask myself?!! :D

Had a look on your web page chels5 and i really liked your idea about reading your statement about dog ownership BEFORE contacting you. Do you mind if i borrow the idea and do something similar myself? That way puppy people know what sort of questions to expect when they ring and hopefully won't be too wrongfooted by an interogation!

OH has already said that he wants to keep ALL of the pups himself so they don't risk being passed on in future:eek: i can see where he's coming from but not everyone is horrible are they? I mean, we're not and we bought puppies so.....

I'd be really interested to have details of the one in Exeter for future reference, if you wouldn't mind, Chels5.  I live very close to Exeter.
Thanks

Sorry haven't looked on this site for a few days and missed this one not much use now as you have already got yourself booked in somewhere but I took my bitch for a scan at Penmellyn vets in St Columb Major they were great the main scanner guy Peter Rodgers did it and I would totally recomend them to anyone
Very helpful indeed :)

Good luck tomorrow with the scan you must let us all know how you got on and how many are in there!!!!

My vets in Bude are very good.......Penbodes.They have a practise in Holsworthy too.Have always been very good and know not to shave too much hair off if I haven`t done it first......they are rough collies so can`t afford to lose too much hair. Gail :) :) :)

Ok thanks, she was scanned today and they only shaved about 2 square inches off, not that you would really notice!
