Might he have eaten something he shouldn't have that has got stuck?  Otherwise it could be constipation either way not being able to eliminate is quite a serious matter and you really need to speak to the vet.

Hopefully, it's just a bit of constipation and an enema will sort it but then you will perhaps need to look at his diet and and see if you need to increase the fibre.  Let us know how you get on.

Ouch!  Little monkey! Did it pop out on it's own?

:eek:Some came unaided...went to emergency vet, as he was in a lot of pain. A finger up the bum! a couple of injections and one sad little boy. He had another bit stuck in his anus, poor thing, all well now (sort of) he has to have mashed potatoes for the next 48 hours and I will have the pleasure of squidging through the rest of his motions........!
Well, he is looking quite sad but I have learned that he is a really good little dog, that was most unpleasant for him and he still kept wanting to wag his tail.
thanks for concern

what a brave little boy! but not an ordeal any of you needed and i hope he's feeling better soonest. perhaps he'll treat the peg bag with rather more caution next time, mind.
