IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CAVALIER KING CHARLES SPANIEL AND A KING CHARLES SPANIEL?

Yes they are different breeds.

The Cavalier has a longer muzzle and a scissor bite, and is not docked. The King Charles has an undershot Jaw, and a flat face, is usually a bit smaller, and has part of the tail customarily docked.

Cavaliers are a very popular breed, that is heavily commercially exploited. Some of the pups bear little resemblance to a toy spaniel, being nearly the size of Cockers and Welsh Springers.

If you are looking for a Cavalier (well same goes for any breed) make sure you go to a reputable breeder, who breeds for breed improvemnt, and has their stock tested for health problems.

Heart trouble is common, and the best thing is to know that the parents of the pups MUM and Dad have had their hearts tested as sound, once over the age of five. If your breeder has several generations of healthy stock (pups grandma, great grandma etc) it is more likely that you will get a pup sound in this department.
