My bitch was bred on her 12th day only managed 1 breeding .  She had 5 quite big pups in her last litter and was massave the last 5 days before she had them on day 59.  Now she is due on 4th may if she is pregnant and doesn't really look any bigger , so just guessing if she is she's only having 1 or 2 . When she was at the vets at 6 weeks they just said she possibly could be dont think they wanted to say yes or no. Has anyone else had this problem.

thanks in advance for any replies..

my bitch had all the same symptoms of pregnancy with a phantom- including swollen ribcage and belly. the only difference when she really was pregnant apart from a little morning sickness early on was her discharge. by 5 weeks she had a white discharge after a wee and by 6/7 weeks to the end a clear discharge like jelly that hung in little strings. of course once we felt movement we knew for sure. it was certainly a nail biting time!

The main difference between a phantom and a pregnancy is the degree of mammary development.  There is not nearly so much with a phantom as with a pregnancy.  But I guess with a really hairy breed it might be more difficult to gauge.

i disagree, my bitch had huge mammaries with her phantom and tons of milk for more weeks than when she fed her actual litter

Ive also seen bitches with phantom pregnancies who are massive and full of milk.
