Ellie seems to be sneezing a lot recently. It started yesterday evening, and has appeared on and off all day. She only seems to do it when she gets excited, and didn't do it all night, which makes me think theres nothing irritating her up her nose as it would be constant. She also had slightly runny eyes this morning. Mum thinks it could be the pollen, but shes never had any allergies before (shes 3) so why now?

Yes interesting!  One of my dogs sneezes a lot, I know he's fit and well so never thought of it as 'illness' - I think it's something to do with excitement, like last week I took him round an obedience ring for the first time, and two or three times on the heelwork he had to stop for a good sneeze - weird!!  When I think about it, he's always done it, so it's not seasonal or anything.

A lot of dogs sneeze when excited. There was a post here asking how many did this that you can search for. Mine sneezes when he get all excited and is trying to entice us into a game.

ellie in particular has always sneezed when she got excited or played etc, but its definately increased in the last couple of days. Meg and murphy have been sneezing more too, i'm starting to think its something to do with the rape seed in the field behind us.

hi, my cavalier, ellie, seems to sneeze when i get the lead or ball out for her walks. She is usually getting really excited for walkies at the time.  One other time she does it, is when im sat at the pc. She now knows that when she sneezes she gets " oh baby you got the sneezes" from me in a very silly baby voice, (im sure you all know what i mean when they do something cute voices).

She really seems to play up to it and gives even more sneezes.  Just one of her many little weird qualities she seems to have.
