my bitch puepa is in the midlle/towards the end of her first season. i suppose depending on how long it will be for her.
she bled quite a lot, but now seems to be clearing up. i have checked her everyday, and see looks pink , clean and clear. she is still very swollen thougth.
still slightly off her food, and being very clingy.
she showed no intrest in my friends castreated male.
if anythign she played more with my other young bitch.

her nipples are bigger than before her season. im wondering if this is normal, like a puberty thing?

could her being round castrated males and letting them play, cause her to have a phantom pregnancy?
she seems to be more needy now towards the end of her season. wanting to sleep more, and not wanting to play with my other dog much.

if a bitch has a phantom pregnancy, would she just go thougth the motions but to gain weight?

i dont think she is having a phantom at all. just curious as to what to look for if one did appear after the season. she has not been out of my site of off a lead since she started the season. and my garben is a 7fy concreate wall with trelis on the top. so she has not escaped either.

Both vulva and teats (more slightly) enlarge during a season and although they reduce again do not return to pre-pubescent size :)

I've never owned a bitch with a phantom but understand that it's several weeks after the season has lapsed before obvious changes occur - just as though they were beginning to "feel" pregnant and whelping imminent.   I'm sure someone else will be able to provide more accurate symptoms to look out for and the time scale.

regards, Teri :)
