Please can someone give me some sanity??!!!

All 4 children are at various stages of having chickenpox.  One daughter has just returned to school from the Easter hols, 2 are just getting over the spots appearing and I have just found some spots on my youngest :rolleyes:

I am seriously lacking adult conversation.  OH is away at the moment (typical! :rolleyes:)- most of my friends are either pregnant and wary about coming round, or have really young children who haven't had it and dont want it :rolleyes:!  I haven't been able to go out for days :(.

Got the lotion, calpol, piriton and bicarb for the bath!  Has anyone got any other ideas of what to try (already got a bottle of wine in the fridge for me later :D)

Oh you poor thing. Why is it these things always happen when you're on your own. I'm surprised at your friends. It's so dangerous to get chicken pox as an adult that where I come from we usually end up with exposure parties. Bring your youngster around and get it now. One of my friends exposed one of her kids about 5 times before he actually got it. Did you get acyclovir from the GP? They didn't have it when I was a kid; just wondered if it shortened the unpleasant itchy stage. Teaching the kids to gently pat their spots instead of scratching is the only other thing I can think to say. It stimulates the nerves enough to satisfy without causing irritation (well, worked for my sister) I was a baby and mom just wrapped my hands with gauze.

Also some nice choccies to go with that wine - you'll need the seratonins. I hope for a speedy recovery to them all.

You should sugest to your friends that it is better their children catch chicken pox while they are young and have a 'Chicken Pox Party'!  A friend of mine did this, issued invites to friends and neighbours with young children requesting their company if they wanted to get it 'over and done with'!!! :D  It was a great success too! 

Your friends children have probably already got chicken pox anyway - you are contagous (sp?) for 10 days before the spots even appear, so delight in the knowledge that when you can face the world again, they are going to be cooped up indoors!

Be warned, if they only get a mild dose they can catch it again!!! My Doctor suggested adding oats to the bath to stop the itching, i found it helped, but there again she also told me to use frozen cabbage leaves for mastitus! old wives tails....

I caught them again for that reason. The doctor figured I was so young (few months old) that I didn't develop proper immunity and I came down with them again whe nI was 32. Was that ever a shock!

All 4 covered head to foot and everywhere in between :rolleyes:  (even in their mouths, in between fingers/toes and other places not to mention!) ;)   So I think I can safely say they won't catch it again. 

Suggested everyone comes round for a little get together the other day (before 3 of them got it) and I've never seem anyone back away so quickly before!!!!    Had a quiet chuckle though when I realised that 3 of mine at school went to a school disco just before the Easter weekend and also a couple of parties between them! :D :D :D

Haven't heard of the oats trick but its worth trying anything at the moment.  The older ones I can tell to stop itching and they have been pretty good actually but its the youngest - hes only 2 and has already scratched like mad :(  Tried gloves etc but he just took them off.  The daily bicarb bath seems to ease it (I think so but can't be sure as I've tried anything and everything going!).

Chocolate supplies are at an all time low in my house.  Haven't been able to go shopping for a few days as someone was still infectious (sp) so everyone's been having Iffits for tea .  Called my SIL who is going to drop some much needed chocolate off on her way home from work! :D :D

:rolleyes:Thats really bad luck, but at least they all have it at the same time instead of one after the other as often happens. Mine were all seperate and one of them only got about three spots.. Heres hoping your sil gets around quickly...

Our son has just got over chicken pox, we had plenty of liquid neurofen, calamine CREAM, and piriton.

When he went back to school after 8 school days off, we have been told he is being watched because of his poor attendance......these are the only days he's had off since going back in September, I was so angry, would they prefer I had sent him in and let the rest of the class get it as well

Poloaussie, don't rely on that as being it, when our 3 daughters had chickenpox at the same time, our son had 4 spots, our GP told us that was it he wouldn't get it again........he did and it as bad as when the girls had it.

Sounds like you need a takeaway delivered with some nice desserts!

Ther must surely be light at the end of the tunnel now if three of them are nearly over it and the other one has already got the spots.
Just hang on in there until the chocolate arrives I know whart its like to feel deprived of chocolate as I haven,t eaten any now for four weeks

Where are you?  I'd love for my 2yo to get chickenpox and get it out of they way :-D

Indigo had it a couple of weeks ago and luckily a mildish dose so not too bad apart from the spots on her ickle delicate parts

Hope all your crew are getting over the worst now and the OH is back to let him take over so you can have a rest ! :)

Choccies arrived and devoured!  Much needed lift.  One has been back at school for a couple of days, the twins have started to scab over so hopefully will be able to return after the bank holiday but unfortunately Archie has just got the spots and more appeared today so not over the worst yet for him.  He hasn't really got them anywhere else apart from his nappy area.... and I mean he is covered!!! .

OH back tonight and I have to work all day tomorrow so he will have fun....!! :D :D

Thank goodness the choccies arrived! I guess it's good that the OH is back too (tee hee) Will you run screaming from the house while throwing bottles of calamine at him?

Just got home from work and I don't think I have ever seen my OH so stressed!!! :D :D :D (and I don't have a guilty bone in my body! )

a freind of mine has it at the moment too she 36 year old

My freind also has it and shes sixty thought it was an allergic reaction but its ben confirmed as chicken pox its driving her mad itching in her hair and in her ears.
