The moderators have kindly authorised me to post my query in this forum.

I am looking for dog enthusiastis, owners, breeders, etc, to fill in my questionnqire qbout vocal communication in dogs. I'm running a long-term project on this subject (that has actually received a fair amount of media attention over the last few months) and am trying to get some ground work done. I'm currently am looking at breed differences in vocal behaviour. In order to fairly represent as many breeds as possible, I need a whoooole lot of responses (several thousand would be ideal), so now is the time to get in there and get your dog counted!

If you can help, please go to http://vocaldog.com/questionnaire.html

Thanks!
I appreciate every single dog :)

I'd like to help but first I'd like to see that this post is sanctioned by Admin.  I checked the link and I would have more faith if there was a subsequent link to the university, the researcher's full name, faculty, goals and objectives of the project, as much as can be said without influencing the responses.  Links to copies of the mentionned media coverage would be good too.

Yes, I am a suspicious old cynic.  I don't want my email flooded with unwanted offers to purchase this and that.  Sorry if this is offensive to the poster, it is not meant to be.  I have just learned the hard way in the past.

If you click on the questionnaire link, then the text link at the top of that page, it gives the researcher's full name and university address.  Looks bona fide to me.  The questionnaire doesn't ask for your email address (or any personal details) so I don't think you have anything to worry about :)

As Anna has stated, we have given her permission to post and are happy for her to do so :)

Hi there,

You made some very good points, and my intro should have been more extended! Sorry I just barged in the way I did.

As someone pointed out below, all the info (full name, address, and also media links!) is on the homepage, but for the record, the main researcher is (me):

Anna M. Taylor
Department of Psychology
University of Sussex
BN1 9QH

We have an official press release here: http://www.sussex.ac.uk/press_office/media/media548.shtml
which is a bit better than most of the online articles (i.e. they actually *talked* to the research team), and has quite a lot of info about the research goals and methodology of the study.

I'd also be happy to answer any more specific questions.

Thanks for your time!

Anna

Hi Anna

Have done the questionnaire, if you like I can add the link to my website?

I will PM you the link.

You might be happy to know that breed is very well represented in the questionnaire thanks to the helpfulness of a huge American breed club! So, I might even be able to answer your question in a few weeks/months time :D.

Thanks for your help!
