Get yourself some local honey - produced within 7 miles of where you live - and start taking a teaspoonful each day! :)

That's what used to set my Father dribbling!! ;) Get yourself a pot today! :)

Oooh that sounds a lovely remedy Val! :D
poor you!! on your birthday too :(
It does seem early but Spring is well and truly here Darn Sarf, My Bluebells are starting to unfurl,My copse has a blanket of white Celandines and when we were walking out on Saturday we were followed for a time by 4 Butterflies :)
*Gazuntheit! Lucy * :(

Stephen has already had to go to the Docs for his first lot of tablets :( He seems to start earlier and earlier each year :(
I usually start in February

but this year it has only started this past week ;) I'm allergic to the tree pollen when they wake up from hibernation :( Can I hibernate through the summer?

:D
I took local honey last year for the first time and it helped greatly. Must remember to buy some when I'm out and about.
Yip - real bad.
Which should be a sign of a real good summer

Mine does not normally start till mid July
So fingers crossed for the weather!

Oh Sunday night was miserable! I used to get allergy shots when I lived in the US and that just cured it. Over here I just sniff - still, keeps the seat next to you on the metro empty!

Why dont you have the jabs here? Stephen had one a few years back and it was marvellous ...unfortunately he would prefer to sniff and sneeze that have a jab in his gluteus maximus (sp?) :D :p

I asked about getting them when I moved over but my GP looked at me like I was a spoiled hypchondriac. I haven't pushed it because when you start out you have to go frequently. I worked amongst the medical clinics when I had them so it was really easy to just pop over. It would be harder now. That's assuming the treatment is the same here. I haven't really checked.
Ooh, they stuck him in the rear - how unpleasant. I used to get it in the arm. My arm would get quite red and swollen. Not so pleasant for the glutes. :-p
I have been sneezing, but nothing like when i get a real attack of the pollen!! When i can't see because my eyes are so swollen and my nose is bright red from rubbing, ooh and also that scratchy feeling at the back of your throat, then it's started. Summer is not a good look for me!!

I hate the summer & the horrid grass pollen, it's my first summer with Molly being old enough to go for decent walks but I'm gonna have to dose myself up so much I'm gonna be out of it so won't enjoy it boo hoo!
I've heard honey is a good remedy but aren't you supposed to take it before the season starts? I always always forget d'oh! Now you've reminded me though I might start with it being the start of the season!
I long to move to the seaside, it never seems as bad there....:(
It is better if you can start taking the honey as soon as you can, but I started mid summer last year and it really helped for the rest of the summer! ;)

Yes, I remember that we had this conversation last year. :D
My Father had problems with hayfever that got worse and worse each year. He went to the Doctor each March to get inhalers and eye drops every year. I read about the local honey thing about 10 years ago now and suggested it to him knowing that he likes honey. I also suggested that it may be some time before he felt any benefit as is often the case with the more natural remedies but after only a week he said that he was beginning to feel better and after just 3 weeks he didn't need any of the medication, and hasn't needed to use anything at all since, so definitely worth a try.
I really feel for all you hayfever sufferers. I agree with Melodysk though the jab (kenelog) sp? is marvellous. My husband suffers from hayfever but his job is safety critical so he is limited to what he can take, luckily this is one of the things his work recommends and last year was his best year after a rough start. Homeopathy also worked very well for him so this may be worth a try.
Yes Lucy
I started sniffling this week............

I usually start before now, but assume that the late spring is delaying things - usually lasts badly until Julyish :( Keep hoping that I'm going to grow out of it after 30 years :D

Keep hoping that I'm going to grow out of it after 30 years :-DMe to. Although I have only had it for about 7-8 years now. My grandfather suffered from it and he is the only one I know in my family that suffered from it. Genetics :-)

My sister had hay fever VERY badly from about 12/13. She lived at the doctor's, as he was an ear/nose/throat specialist and tried out all the latest injections/pills on her :D It ruined her education as she was always very bad around exam time :( However, she is now 53 and only gets it mildly now - so I am hoping :) My son has shown signs of getting it for a few years (he is nearly 23), but so far it isn't too bad :)

It's a horrible affliction - I was plagued with it from around 5 years of age until my early 20's when
thankfully I seemed to outgrow it. My sister had it bad too but only for about 5 years - brought on terrible asthma like attacks in her case. Neither of our parents suffered from it and fortunately none of our kids do :)
Have every sympathy for anyone with it - vile :( :( :(

Ive had hayfever allergies since i was 6 years old im 49, so thats 43 years now:rolleyes:, ive had all sorts of medication, injections in arm ,injections in bum, tablets, insufflaters, nothing worked

, had the arm tests but that was 25 years ago and allergic to lots, but the last few years i have been on real zirtek ( substitute doesnt work), sudofed, (take both every day), and nose and eye sprays when needed and its under control mostly but is now allergic rhinitus (all year round), i have honey on my toast every morning but its not local so think i will try this see if it makes any differece.

The theory is that it's made from the pollen that you are reacting to? Got to be worth a try if you have it for breakfast anyway? Health food shops usually have local honey if you don't have signs outside houses. I bet you'll see one once you are looking! :D

Yes, i was thinking i might get it in the health shop where i buy our barleycup,we dont drive so wouldnt see it elsewhere, thanks.
