Does anyone know how these work and what they might cost. Hannah passed her theory today and is looking at options. She did have afew lessons a while ago so is not a complete novice. Thnx

Personally, I think that 2 hour lessons, interspersed with lots of practise/experience on the road with mum/dad/brave friend, are the way to go :) Both my children (including nervous son) passed first time this way.

Rule out the Mum/Dad bit....definitely not an option with Hannah!!!!. Shes had about 8 lessons a little while back but then had an op on her feet so had to defer any more and I think is now just anxious to press on.

With my dad being a driving instructor we have lots of inquiries from people wanting intensive courses to cram it all in and every time we say 99% of people cannot physically learn it quickly and its better to have a day or so between lessons to take info in.

We end up with a lot of customers who come to us after intensive courses and failing their tests to then slow it all down to make sure they are really understanding before taking the test again.

Much better to take a little longer and really understand before bluffing it through the test and crashing within the first few months as many of my friends have done!!!

I think Dude Dog has a point in that what suits one won't necessarily suit everyone.

My eldest Daughter did the intensive course and passed first time, other daughter did one lesson a week and failed.  Can't say one way is better but certainly my eldest daughter thought intensive was the best way.  She is a fast learner and so it suited her very well.

I did about 8 lessons then jacked it in and the year later did an intensive 2 week course every other day and passed 1st time.

The 1st week i thought i was never going to get it and even stormed out the car with the instructor doing a mock exam hehe but the 2nd week it clicked.

But as others said its really each to their own and not all people are the same.

My eldest has just passed his test - he had 3 two hour driving lessons a week, and took his test (and passed!) only 4 weeks after his first lesson.

I only had six lessons and passed first time :)

It was a case of having to pass to be able to drive to a new job which I think made a difference :)
