hi, there are probably other topics on this, but my dog seems to have weepy eyes today and i was just wondering what i should do. Shall i just clean them, or could it be something else? thank you!

My boy also has had runny eyes today..well more runny than normal for a boxer..
I had wondered if it was because the weather had changed here and neighbours cutting their lawns..

I would bathe them with boiled cooled water and cotton wool for a day or two if they appear red ,weepy and  sore you may need an antibiotic cream from the vet.

Hi if there's no change with his eyes i'd pop along to your vet for a check up, it could be more serious like entropian or dischiatrias both need your vets opinion. Dont mess around were eyes are concerned it isn't worth it.  Keep us informed of his progress good luck i hope it's resovled' for him soon.

Snotty eyes are not unusual at this time of year with lost of flowering trees etc and pollen and stuf in the air, but if after a day or two they are the same it is probably a mild case of conjunctivitis and will need Antibiotic drops to clear it up.

it spring time pollen will be high.with all the new growth on tree,s and grass.

one of my puppy owner keep going back to vets over 2 months in the spring 2000 he saoid it was conjunctivits,but it did turn out to be haye fever .

all my dog are sacthing at the moment.frontline them yesterday and found 2 ticks on chase.no fleas,they are lost they coats and it got warmer over the last couple of days too

Fagan has had what looks like conjunctivitis (runny, red sore looking eyes) I have had it too :rolleyes: I just used eye ointment on him from the chemist and it is clearing up really nicely.  I dont see the point in spending fortunes at the vets when they are only going to give you the same as what you get at the chemist. Obviously if it persists I will take him to the vets :)

and dont get me started on ticks !!!!!!!!!  I have never seen so many so early in the year, I pulled 4 off Alfie yesterday alone, he seems more prone to them (I think Fagan must run to fast )  Does anyone know of anything to deter ticks, such as garlic ? would that work ? they get frontlined but it does stop them latching on :rolleyes:

aw, yes i think it might have just been hayfever because they seem ok today! they do get runny now and again, and they don't seem to be sore or red. thank you for the replies, i don't know anything about ticks though hmmm

I give mine a garlic capsule a day and we have never had any problems with Fleas or Ticks :)

I seemed to be wiping my pups eyes daily for a while. She was also very fussy with her food. Eventually, it transpired that she had a womb infection after her first season. I then found out that runny eyes can be a symptom of a dog being unwell. If I had known this earlier, I would have taken her to the vets sooner. Now she has been spayed & is a different, healthy dog. I rarely need to wipe her eyes.
