Has anyone heard of it? It's similar to braces, but almost invisable. It works through a series of invisible, removable, and comfortable aligners that no one can tell you're wearing them. So you can smile more during treatment as well as after. Loads of adults have already benefited from treatment in America. Have you ever seen it in Europe? I've been deciding for ages to start wearing braces (never wanted to wear them when I was a child ) and this might be a great solution...... or perhaps veneers would be better. Anyone had that done?

When my son was having orthodontic treatment I saw the system advertised, but I can't say I've ever seen anyone using it ... but then, that's the whole point, isn't it?! ;) :D

LOL, you're right! ;) I guess at my age it would be better to try that...... it's not all that cool seeing a 27 year old woman with braces . But I'm wondering how much it costs though. You think it's affordable?

Thanks, I'll check it out!
I got my orthodontics done free at the local dental hospital.Free??

Is that possible?? Because it costs quite a bit as far as I know. Over here it would cost me about 3000Euro for 12 months.

I know its around £3500 for the whole treatment which can last anywhere from 5-18 months.
You have to wear the braces for min 22hrs per day, but they are removable.
Edited to say; I've been told they are quite uncomfortable to start with but with time you get use to them :-)
Not everyone is suitable, so you have to have an initial consultation which down in the south east is extra at around £70 (on top of the £3500).
Also you might need to gave teeth/s extracted, but the dentist will let you know.

Thanks for the info. So I guess it costs about the same as normal braces..... I reckon I wouldn't need to have any of my teeth extracted as I have enough space, it's only one tooth that is slightly out of line.
Gosh i didn't realise braces were so expensive!!!

If you have them done as an adult under the NHS in the UK, you only pay the maximum for a course of treatment which was £365 or similar but has now gone down to £180ish.
My son had a brace when younger and would like more orthodontic work done now that he is a bit older.

I got mine done for free because we have a teaching dental hospital nearby, its been really good and the students don't do anything without the supervisors checking first.

My MIL paid for my daughter to have her teeth done when she was 10, her teeth were so awful she couldn't even shut her mouth, two years on, no braces, wears a retainer each evening and perfect teeth, yes 2,500 but worth every penny in my opinion as her confidence as soared and although to me she was beautiful to me always, she is to herself now too.

I had the big old metal brackets when I was 14. I had them for 2 years and it felt like forever but I'm very glad for it now. My teeth uncorrected would have been very hard to keep clean.

Craigles why did your daughter not have her teeth done under the NHS? Many children haven't lost all their milk teeth by 10yrs old so perhaps that is why.

She had lost all her milk teeth at an early age, she has always been well developed and at 12 yrs old she stands 5ft 7". Our dentist put us in contact with an Orthodontist who assessed her teeth after x-rays etc., and said he would treat her but there was a 3 year waiting list. We went away and spoke about it between us and she was so desperate to have her teeth done, MIL offered to pay, we ended up visiting two Orthodontists in respect of the treatment before deciding on which one to go with and I know we made the right choice as her before and after photos are amazing. Her confidence was the main issue for us deciding to go private, as from the day she had the braces fitted her confidence soared and I have never regretted it and neither has she. Hope that goes a little way to explaining, had we waited basically for the NHS she would most possibly have still been waiting now.
